  • I still have the irrepressible urge to pronounce the s at the end of "chaos" because I more or less learnt the word through warhammer 40k. Except in French the s is silent. But now I've moved to the south where the locals have a habit of pronouncing many silent s !
My poor brain is so confused...

  • If all you bring to the job is looking shit up and telling me yes or no instead of actually trying to help me find solutions, or explaining me what I did wrong, you're just a glorified robot. You're in line for replacement and you'll fucking deserve it. At least that's what I wanna say to "the computer said" people.

  • I certainly appreciate where you're coming from. But whereas I've no idea exactly what Biden did during his tenure, Trump's mandate was a nearing constant barrage of WTF proclamations and online logorrhea, with some of his delirium actually affecting me personally and I for one, as a foreigner, like to have quiet, well-behaved neighbours. So if we could have another four years of peace and quiet, that would be nice.

  • Is the game good? I don’t care what the engine is. The game’s good! Let’s play the game. Well, that's the issue Bruce, isn't it? The games are not as good as you think they are.

Nesmith explained that the studio can’t focus on the needs of modders when creating a core game. Maybe you should wonder why so many of those mods are corrections, bug fixes and extensions to the engine though. Maybe that's a hint?

  • Oh this reminds me of that joke about someone being said to talk a lot of shite, and through the magic of political correctness, ends up being described as a huge provider of growth or something like that.

  • I was thinking the other day that people were bashing it for the space navigation and I remembered that Mass Effect didn't let you pilot shit or even pick where to go or explore a huge planet and still was so so good.

Still not attracted because what ME was an engrossing story and amazing cast, which Bethesda never ever did in any of the games I liked. So... yeah.

But I sure hope people who took the plunge will get their money's worth!

  • We have a table with literally three columns. One is an id, another a filename and a third a path. Guess which one was picked as the primary key?

Never seen something so stupid in 28 years of computing. Including my studies.

  • Hahaha! We've an "architect" who insists he needs to be the owner on the gitlab. My colleague has been telling him to fuck off for the entire week. It reached the point that fool actually complained to our common boss... The guy is so used to working as a start-up and has no fucking clue about proper procedures. It's terrifying that he could be in charge of anything, really.
