  • I am not sure, possibly not. Of course this isn't the ideal scenario, this is why port forwarding is still recommended, but you probably still get away without using it, if you download mostly freeleach and popular torrents. That way you can 1:1 the ratio during the download.

  • Dark reader - for dark mode everywhere

Decentreyes - for avoiding CDNs that track you

Sponsorblock - to skip sponsored parts on youtube

Enhancer for youtube - for a nicer overall experience, specific quality setting by default, scroll wheel volume, and more

  • At work I guess you only do work related stuff, so at the end of the day it's only work-related data that the browser has access to. Why would it matter to you?

99.9% of my the personal browsing I do is in firefox both on phone and desktop, but on work laptop I use Edge because 1. the work web-apps seem to favour chromium based browsers and 2. it's not my data so I don't really care about the privacy of my company's data, they have a data privacy officer to worry about that.

  • You came here asking if a vpn config is outrageous. And it may be for you, but it's also probably the only option for that specific provider as they can't get their own client onto the locked down apple store.

You can continue using your devices, but don't expect people to give you solutions left and right as you are not using an open "ecosystem", so sometimes there is no (easy) solution. All people did was suggesting a better approach that will give you a lot less headaches and you took it personally...

  • You know what didn't die yet? My 8 year old earbuds that have a wire and plugs into the jack. And guess what, I don't even have to charge them or worry about losing one of them.

    Fuck wireless headphones.

  • 2.4GHz ia good in theory, in practice tho, every technology especially the open protocols use it so there is a lot of interference. I know that because I had to lower the 2.4GHz wifi power by a lot so it doesn't cause issues with the zigbee mesh.

As for tv I would agree if TVs came with gigabit NIC, but the majority comes with 100mbps card, so if you want to stream some high quality 100+mbps content you have no other option but to use the wifi or give up the usb port for a usb ethernet nic or use a usb hub. Not pretty solitions for sure.

And then you have the robot vacuum which can only use 2.4GHz wifi for obvious reasons. And people might have IPcams which are also on wifi.
