  • I had a quick play of this - I lost after about 25 minutes - my fortress was overrun by Serpentmen. Anyway, just wanted to say it's really well written and nicely illustrated, and I enjoyed the gameplay loop. It's a really interesting game. I'm not sure on my free time/availability for testing, but if it is literally "do a playthrough and let me know if anything was broken", I could fit that in somewhere :)

  • There's a gamingonlinux article which might explain a bit.

Very roughly, a few alterations to the anticheat to make it work on Wine made some of the anticheat's workings apparent, which in turn allowed people to work out new exploits.

Wine is an excellent tool for reverse engineering. Additionally, we had to disable many antitamper checks to make Hyperion run on Wine. This has allowed interested parties to learn a lot about the internal workings of Hyperion, relevant to both Win32 and UWP. As the initial shock of Hyperion’s release started wearing off, many people have begun discovering the various angles through which one can learn more about the inner workings of Hyperion.

As to why all the anticheat stuff matters so much, I'm not quite sure.

  • They actually all lie about different things.

Grey cat likes to lie to get into the room you're in, if the door is closed, by pretending there's a horrific emergency on the other side of the door. "Help! Help! Let me into the bathroom with you! My agony shall not subside until I have access to this room! I am ill! I am dying!"

Stripey cat likes to open cupboard doors, cardboard boxes and then hunt, kill and eat pouches of wet cat food, then pretend it wasn't him at all, and he is hungry and hasn't eaten for days.

Black cat likes a more traditional "I've not been fed yet, I am starving", and also "I have no idea how the water bowl ended up upside down, but it looks like we're out of water again".

Thankfully, none of them will scratch or bite (at least not me or my partner). Black and stripey will both gently push your hand away when they've had enough tummy-tickle-time. Grey cat can be tickled for at least ten minutes. He just waits for you to get bored.

  • I love that someone wrote a poem about our cats. Thank you.

I think they'll like it too - I fear they're growing tired of me singing "Who's a little black/stripey/silver cat with a fluffy little nosey-wose, who is a cat with a fluffity tail" to the tune of "Ride a White Swan" by T-Rex.

  • I might have exaggerated it a bit, but some of the Southern accents (at least the cockney-ish ones) pronounce "L" at the end of some words as a sort of weird double-W sound, like "wwoow".

I personally find it troubles my ears a bit more than "grarse" and "barth" etc.
