it will not make changes that it characterises as “a serious and direct threat to data security and information privacy” for users around the globe
That’s the thing right there. If Apple makes a back door for the UK, they would have difficulties keeping only UK citizens affected. Communications are global. Even if they restricted the back door to conversations involving UK residents, every private group chat that resident user enters becomes snoopable just by that user being there and the history could be made available from before the user entered. It would be like a privacy virus with UK residents as the spreaders.
Double standards? Not even comparable. America didn’t occupy Iraq to claim it for the USA and move Americans there. There is an independent Iraq to this day. Also, many Iraqis did come to the USA anyway:
I’m with you on the failures of the Muslim countries to provide equality for its people. They are being criticized for that too. Especially for women, which are the hardest hit.
Never used the 720p plan because I have 4k TVs but I’m surprised at the number of people signing up for the ad supported plan. For me, the whole point of paying for streaming was so that I could support the film makers without dealing with ads.
They are reliant on agriculture from Russia. They don’t want to damage that trade relationship. Climate change has made Africa less than ideal for many crops.
Yeah, the sites themselves are going to either block Norway or turn off the ads for them. An overwhelmingly large portion of the internet uses targeted ads. This isn’t just a Facebook thing. For example, Google has an ad engine that runs on nearly every commercial website. This will take some work to comply with and I can see a lot of sites blocking Norway in the meantime.
Egypt sucks. No freedom and random political jailing is enough reason to never want to go there.
