What is something that gets a lot of hate for absolutely no reason?

Thanks for clarifying, I only have a casual knowledge of Yuzu internals and had been led to believe the ARM was translated rather than emulated.
The performance is honestly incredible for software emulating a different instruction set.
It would be nice if we could. I do manufacture carbide tooling that is much higher quality than the import stuff, and we sell it at a fair price. Only because we have an old, paid for, well kept machine to do it, because otherwise we couldn't compete.
But you can tell that I'm talking about disposable crap if you actually read my comment. Superballs that don't bounce, plastic holiday decor that crumbles in UV light, erasers shaped like a kitten that just smear the pencil lead around.
I thought Yuzu was actually a dynamic recompiler? I remember this practice started in the days of N64 emulation, and these tools are more like debuggers than like VMs. So in this case, ROMs may only be copied "into Yuzu" byte by byte, not stored as a block in memory. At this point it's really semantics, but that's what the lawyers are supposed to figure out, right?
Unlike older emulators, Switch emulators don't even support saving the emulator state, and their savegame data is stored right on the native filesystem. I believe they are actually more like Wine, and remember, Wine Is Not an Emulator.
Stop buying imported Chinese crap, for starters. If you don't, then that's great, but almost everyone does to some extent. Some is unavoidable, but try to minimize it.
Buy quality items that are built to last. Ask yourself if you really need something or if you just want it. Spread the word to others to do the same. Tell all your friends to stop buying shit from Temu, Wish, dollar stores and other crap-merchants.
On the positive side, China is in fact growing their renewable capacity at a higher rate than anywhere else in the world, and also building nuclear plants. However the amount of power required for manufacturing to feed the world's endless appetite for disposable crap is vast and mostly supplied by burning coal.
You don't just need to provide keys, but an entire firmware dump. Yuzu contains no executable Switch code AFAIK
These passages imply the writers of them lack basic computer literacy and don't even understand Nintendo's own systems.
- "copied the game ROMs into Yuzu" Yuzu is not a VM or other container and the ROMs are simply stored on disk in their original dumped form... Yuzu doesn't "store" or "contain" any games.
- "any copy not on an authorized cartridge" LOL! What about games downloaded from your own digital marketplace, then?
What about a game you downloaded from Nintendo eShop and stored on an external SD card, which is a standard and well supported storage method on Switch? Is that SD card an "authorized cartridge"?
The real problem is with corporate landlords who are attempting to buy up as much of Canada's housing stock as possible and control the market (rent-seeking as you say) otherwise the "mom and pop" landlord really is providing a service more than making much of a profit.
Years ago I moved out of my mobile and into a real house. The mobile was paid for by then and I thought hey, I'll rent it out instead of selling. Make some money, give someone a home.
What a nightmare. In the end I was forced to sell it just to be rid of the last in a long line of delinquent tenants, despite me doing my best to vet them.
Activist renters don't seem to realize that there's someone on the other end of the deal who is holding the bag. I agree, rent should be free, housing should be a right. But without a co-op or government to build the house and maintain it, the person who has to do that is your fellow working man, and do you expect them to do that for free or at a loss? The whole time while being treated with disrespect like they were some greedy billionaire?
Of course you are paying their mortgage. You're using their credit and wearing out their consumable asset (the house) the least you can do is cover the costs! If you don't like it, take out a loan, buy a house yourself and you'll soon find out how much it costs to own one! Hint: more than rent unless you bought with cash (And by doing that you have lost the opportunity cost. Which is fine if you live there, but not if it's supposed to be an investment)
Investing in rental stock only works in a rising housing market, or if you're a slumlord. Otherwise, just buy index funds, a lot less hassle and better returns.
Aspartame itself is completely safe, but recent studies have found all artificial sweeteners have metabolic effects. It's not that the chemicals themselves are hazardous, as you say aspartame in particular has been very rigorously studied, but that it appears the body uses the sweet taste as a signal to change insulin production.
Is it better to have a diet pop than sugar pop? Definitely and I prefer Diet Coke these days, Classic feels like drinking syrup.
However it's even healthier just to drink water, or non-caloric, unsweetened drinks like coffee or tea. Soft drinks are supposed to be a treat and not a food group, I drink maybe one a week.
If you don't want
memory-safebuffer overruns, don’t write C/C++.
Fixed further?
It's perfectly possible to write C++ code that won't fall prey to buffer overruns. C is a lot harder. However yes it's far from memory safe, you can still do stupid things with pointers and freed memory if you want to.
I'll admit as I grew up with C I still have a love for some of its oh so simple features like structs. For embedded work, give me a packed struct over complex serialization libraries any day.
I tend to write a hybrid of the two languages for my own projects, and I'll be honest I've forgotten where exactly the line lies between them.
Past emissions are just assigning blame, future emissions are all that matters. USA emissions have peaked, China is growing exponentially. That's a problem.
Even if that was true, that's assuming your diet consists of only dairy. No beans, grains, meat, eggs... You could easily say the same for the bug powder.
However if you're going to eat a diet based on one thing, make that thing dairy. It does contain all the nutrients required to grow a calf at a massive rate, and a human as well. In my youth I did the GOMAD diet for awhile to put on bulk, and the results were incredible. Milk is close to an optimal food, it evolved to be exactly that.
See, at a glance, that thing looks disgusting. I have an instinctive revulsion to the thought of eating it.
I guess some people would say the same for whole live shrimp though, and I grew up fishing them out of the sea and boiling them up in a pot.
We're pretty close to creating real synthetic milk by means of modified bacterial culture.
If we can have real milk, cheese, whey protein etc. from cheap feedstock in fermentation vats, I don't see a single reason why someone would choose bug powder over that as a protein source.
I can see it, I grew up fishing for both too and shrimp are so easy and casual to twist and shuck off the shell and chow down, while crabs are all armored up and feel a lot more like eating an alien being.
A tasty alien being, though.
No land bugs for me either, they're just full of goo inside. I like my animals full of meat, personally.
Check it out, it's the bone from Jesus's boner! Totally legit! My guy found it back there beside the boulder.
Man, I don't think there are real bones inside boners. You're full of shit. Besides, didn't the dude get reincarnated? What, did he forget that bone?
Yeah well, go fuck yourself. I'm gonna go show this to someone who knows about this sort of thing.
2000 years later, the plaque on a gilded chest reads "The Sacred Bone of the Boner"
Boner bone? Pfft, everyone knows that boners don't have actual bones inside them.
Dude it says it right there on the plaque, who are you gonna believe, some dumb old science teacher or the Pope
But those are so specifically old that they're used ironically or as a joke. And sometimes that happens enough that they get unironically re-injected into local slang.
This happened around here with "cool beans" lol.
Whatcha doing today? Workin' on the truck. Cool beans. We were gonna run into town for a box of beer, you in?
I think you'd be looking more for 80s ninja-turtles style slang like "radical", "gnarly", etc. Or overuse of stale slang like "yeet"
Amusingly even "radical" can still be relevant as an adjective to describe an 80s retro vibe now. Slang and the relative cringe levels of it are pretty bizarre.
Charging at home is what makes this specific situation chicken and egg. Since the gas station is the only thing close to our homes, a charger there is useless to us. It only services people who would come from the city, people who wouldn't be able to make it home without charging, much like how it currently works for us making trips to the city. Without a charger though, they can't even think of making that trip or they will be stuck.
I'm not really making a point about my little car, except that I love it and I wish used lithium batteries were more available in Canada so that I could install a set that would get it to town and back for the mail. It's one of the first street-legal electrics ever produced and I'd love to keep it going. 1978!
I guess if there is a point it's kind of a microscale version of the Canadian issue - in rural Canada, every trip is a long trip. I can't think of many places that I go that wouldn't require fast charging to complete the round trip, especially in winter.
Stimulants? My doc tells me he has to be paranoid because basically if they found out that anyone took a single dose of amphetamine for fun, he would lose his license. Any other drugs, here, have a sack of them and a lifetime supply of renewals. But not stimulants.
Chargers are starting to show up on the major highways and in the cities and large towns, but it'll be awhile before they show up in the countryside (if ever) thanks to the chicken and egg issue. It's a waste of money installing one, because nobody ever brings an electric car out here. And nobody brings an electric car, because without a charger, they don't have the capacity for a round trip.
I actually went the opposite way and bought a diesel Mercedes for my city trips. Reliable, comfortable, and so efficient that you can go for 1000km without stopping for fuel.
I even have an electric car, a little runabout I use at the farm with lead acid cells. I could make it to town, but without being able to charge it there, I couldn't get home (30 km lol lead acid sucks).
Diverting attention from other nerdy/niche groups who don't seem weird at all in comparison?
