What's some good advice for communicating with others online?

  • I am too dumb brain for programming :(

    I've tried a few times in the past to get into it but I just get overwhelmed. I'm frankly amazed by and so thankful for all the programmers who contribute to all of the great libre software I use. I am stuck at the level of knowing more about computers than essentially everyone I know or encounter, while simultaneously being a complete and utter noob to anyone who actually understands computing. I just know how to use search engines and follow instructions written by people smarter than me.

  • I haven't heard of anyone using FRAPS in like a decade! Last I checked (which admittedly is a couple of years ago now) OBS seemed to be the screen recording tool of choice.

    Also, while beer has been losing market share since around 2008, it remains the most popular alcoholic beverage nationwide, as well as being the most popular for every province except BC and Québec (who both prefer wine).

    "Ciders, coolers, and other refreshment beverages" account for only around 10% of the market share, behind beer, wine, and spirits, so I'm not sure where you get the idea that cider is the most popular alcoholic drink.

    With the criteria you've listed, I doubt you'll find a better solution. I say go for it (as long as you can afford it)!

  • AFAIK it's not available via any F-Droid repo.

    I just use Obtainium. I understand some people prefer F-Droid to avoid any proprietary blobs in the builds of their apps, but you could simply track F-Droid repos through Obtainium and use GitHub/other sources for the apps not available on any repo.

    I'm a bit confused as to what you mean by "I’ve used them in the past and on specific programs but never on command line utilities". What's an example of an alias you used outside CLIs?

  • Literally by definition, the average person is not the minority. That’s what the average means…

    I had to come back to this comment just to point out that this isn't the definition of "average" and the "average" person could very well be in the minority depending on what we're measuring (and which measure of central tendency we're referring to when we say "average").

    As an example: The mean number of limbs for humans is lower than 4. However, the overwhelming majority of humans have four limbs.
