  • Yes it is. Evidence is against you on this point when we're talking about population level behaviours, individuals vary of course which includes you

Not that experienced people are less able to consider other opinions, simply that when we're younger we depend more on volatile social acceptance metrics combined with having had less time to firmly establish our own preferences.

  • I think the only reason to respect someone is for what they do.

What better measure is there, even if job is only part of that? better to form my opinion of people for what they do rather than the traditional historical measures.

  • Conservatism may look irrational, outdated and destructive. In fact I'm fairly confident it is all those things *right now * in many places.

Look bigger though, imagine why it exists.

It is the natural end point of any push for change. Any system that manifests in the world will inevitably be challenged by further future. Each revolution is faced with the next one.

It is inevitable that when a system comes to dominance there are those who wish to preserve and conserve it, all the energy that was put into change is focused on conserving the system.

The problem is the context keeps changing and the revolution never fits reality for long.

  • Waffles are a treat, great with sweet things like fruit and cream and syrup!

French toast is amazing, ketchup, sausage, tasty!

Pancakes, I want to like them but I feel a bit sickly after them...

  • A lot of that specific brand of conservatism is very American. While everywhere has conservatives, and I totally agree they're build on a foundation of personal fear, they have very different presentations in different places!
