  • Been listening to the stories of how people saved, supported and fought for others during the Holocaust, even risking their own lives.

I'm not taking away from the tragedy of the loss suffered by so many. I'm saying we can take some hope that human nature is complex enough and good enough that we must not lose sight of that in the face of evil.

  • Yeah, totally.

At 30 I realised I was utterly depressed and had been most of my life. Was so used to it that I didn't realise I could be any different.

Started a long long journey to sort that. Started trying things. Scary as it was, it was less scary than living the rest of my life without ever having lived.

Tried new relationships, new religions, tried new experiences. Again, pushing myself out of my comfort zone a lot but then if I didn't, I was heading towards an early grave and what could be worse than dying?

  • The year you were born does not define your views.

But it can serve to predict it.

Whilst any individual within an arbitrary age bracket can be anything, trends and statistics for those age brackets can be measured and proven.

This is true for age with a much stronger effect than hair colour, because of the material impact it has on the cultural, economic and environmental factors which inform a person's assumptions, experience and perception of norms.

  • There's a limit to that with health anxiety for some people, they need to believe in the illness enough that they'll find the listed symptoms or distort things to fit.

One of those things that can be good or bad, depending on the underlying process.

  • I guess because the outcomes are unaffected.

Either they did the crime, and the pardon is doing what it was designed to do. Or they didn't and it's not having any effect.

In this case, I imagine the pardons are "witch-hunt for revenge" immunity, given what's possibly coming down the pipe.

  • Alternative timeline...

Many European nations want to fight to defend Canada but can not unite in this purpose as many nations consider how it will benefit them to come out having supported the winning side. Others because they don't want to fight against a nation with such a powerful military.

During the ongoing debate on what to do, America completes its invasion of Canada and declares it an Annexation and gives anyone who objects to this in Canada the old American highschool treatment.
