Europe has better fuel, due to generally more stringent requirements with regards to emissions.

Mhm, even when prices are at outrage levels in the US it's probably half the price of what it typically sells for in Europe.

The quality is a little better, though (e.g. less sulfur, typically of a higher octane rating).

This is just Russian propaganda. Ukraine has not "broken" the EU. They have been slow to ramp up production, certainly, but it's happening and more money is being thrown at it, and Ukraine, than ever during this conflict.

Yes, taxes are deducted directly from your paycheck. For the average, employed person taxes aren't something you think about, in the sense that there's nothing you need to do. Once a year you are asked to look over the numbers, and if needed make changes to e.g. property values etc., then you press the "ok" button and you're good for another year.
