  • There's not way you can say that game wasn't ever popular. Maybe it's never been the literal most popular, but it's definitely had a life as a majorly popular game. Large streaming views, tons of players, etc. I have no idea how it's doing now, but it definitely had a number of years of major popularity.

  • I would be pretty interested in reading a more robust analysis between the alternatives you list and GitHub itself. Going to each one and giving them a glance really doesn't show me much other than "yup, it's similar to GitHub".

  • Presumably they mean on the PC side. Like a tool where git push can push to multiple repos, keeping it safe everywhere. I presume you'd have to pick some sort of pull priority order or something, and balancing changes pushed to different repo hosts could be a chore.

  • I think this is the big contention point. In a world without a need for jobs, AI would be a neat alternative method of art generation, and a fascinating advancement of technology as a whole....

but UBI is not yet real and jobs still need to be had. Without some form of life-securement for those who provided the art to be trained off of, we're just using tech to really fuck people over. It's definitely a moral grey area - very dark grey.

  • Yeah, but we did all of our discoveries as a land-based species. It's totally possible some water-based species would find other crazy useful early techniques, then eventually discover stuff like "fire" much further down the line with access to more robust technologies. Their scientific roadmap would look very different from ours, but there are so many weird tricks and techniques that would eventually lead towards some of the dominating processes we have.

  • The US might legit get worse unless there were several near-simultaneous Luigi events. We have a bad habit of using those types of situations to just increase big brother's overwatch and create more privacy/freedom invasions against the populous.

That said, if the US gets worse at the safety of everyone else's democracy... I'm willing to take that sacrifice.
