  • Federated under ActivityPub, no. But individual matrix home servers can federated with one another, so in that way yes.

  • This iOS design language on Android is tripping me out but weirdly also feels like home, since Apollo was my home when I was in iOS. Looking forward to seeing what's next for the project!

  • I don't agree that there's a big difference, though. Yes, one has much more of a base for their claims than the other, but both defeds are based largely on the personal opinions of the administrators of the instances, whether they're politically motivated or rooted in the desire to not have to moderate and micromanage the content posted from that instance. In that way, both of these are the same decision made on the same grounds.

  • I'm restating their reasoning. Not speaking firsthand on whether or not they are. Sorry, should have clarified.

  • Try telling that to the lemmyers (lemmings?) In this Technology thread that were clowning mastodon.art for blocking social.bbc for BBC's history of transphobic rhetoric, considering there are a decent amount of transgender people (and other LGBTQIA+ identifying people) are members of their instance. Same situation, definitely not the same reaction.

EDIT: It was in Technology on lemdro.id, not Fediverse. EDIT 2: Spelling

  • Firefox on Android allows a few extensions. A few of those are privacy badger, ublock origin, and decentraleyes. Should meet your need at a base level.

    EDIT: Spelling

  • Ah good ol Grafo. Chloevely was short but good.

  • Lol as bad as it is, just reading what's output to stdout. Worst case, tailing it via a terminal. I do want/need to actually implement a proper solution at some point, but I haven't actually pulled the trigger on beginning the hunt for a solution yet.

  • Most likely. Some people might be ok with it, some people inevitably will not be, but it's likely an honest attempt to drum up additional traffic and interaction.

  • Yeah that was unusual. I feel like they should have prioritized showing the finishers and then cut over to Max and co.

  • In fairness, there's usually a cool down lap. At Spa they hang a hard right and go down the pit lane in the reverse direction, so the early finishers are quick to get parked and get out.

  • I don't use the Memory app specifically, just a photos. As far as browsing my backed up gallery, Immich winds hands down between that and NextCloud. The gallery and tagging id the closest to Google photos I've come in a long time.

  • You can, but only have one app (Immich or whatever you use to back up to NC) handle uploads. Right now I am doubling up but I have enough spare space that it isn't affecting me, so I don't mind.

  • Yeah that was my point. That's why NC is my main and Immich is my secondary.

  • Man I miss LG being in the phone market.

  • Been backing up to NextCloud using PhotoSync on iOS and Android the last few years. I also recently implemented Immich, and although that means doubled up photo backup, it's nice to test out and witness firsthand just how much Immich is improving with every release.

  • Don't judge the project based on that. It's genuinely a quality application once you get it up and running.

  • Most integrated password managers should thwart this assuming the user doesn't reveal their passwords, though. The only thing in plaintext that would be visible would be the username. Of course, this assumes that OCR is their only vector.
