  • I'm going to assume you're going to go ahead with the idea. You could make use of the fact that every lemmy based community has an RSS feed.

  • I've just been using the mobile web UI.

I really like Sync but I've found myself just using my mobile browser to interact with instances when on my phone. Also, if you want open source, Sync ain't it.

  • Contact people in the industry and roles you think you are interested in and ask them about their job and company. Ask them to share your resume with anyone they know is hiring.

Keep in touch with them over time.

  • Show people your serious projects. Why are you suddenly pretending that you can't?

  • The fact that everyone else skipped to giving suggestions is absolutely wild to me. I hope OP sees your post and takes it seriously. Their only response to a comment noted that they are worried about the project they're interested in being "too professional". What has them thinking that any of these concerns are important?

  • Probably a lot. I think LunarVim was the result of several years of customizations from a few people but one dev did most of yhe work. But I've found that I don't want most of these changes and packages included in LunarVim.

  • I've used LunarVim and they make a lot of opinionated changes from the default behavior of NeoVim. These changes are undocumented and must be discovered and explored organically, while the default behavior is well documented.

It's also difficult to update and change for your own use until you become familiar enough with all of the customizations and packages they've included.

Kickstart.nvim ads only a few packages that are very popular and provides a base upon which you can customize as needed.

  • A nice grid lined notebook and a mechanical pencil is still my favorite.

I like to use Google Keep for certain things, but I have a hard time explaining how those things are better for Google Keep.

I'm looking at giving Neorg a try.

  • This isn't a software thing. This is people filtering for suckers. They want to find other people to do their work but they want to keep the value created from that work.

  • People will definitely listen if the experience is better because of the extensions.

  • Most people aren't going to know or care, but getting the word out that Firefox allows better, more useful extensions due to recent changes by Alphabet will make a difference.

  • Thanks for this write-up!

It seems that you've kinda confirmed the points made by the Fossil team by showing that while all of their pain points are addressable, addressing those pain points takes more knowledge and experience compared to Fossil's implemented solutions. Opinionated workflows are best presented up front for beginners. It's no surprise that people with experience and have developed their own workflows already wouldn't value this highly unless they are often charged with helping beginners learn a git workflow.

  • Yes git restore and git switch were made specifically to be simplified, more specific commands which are safe from performing destructive actions without warning. They were implemented in Git 2.23.0 in 2019.

  • I'm just realizing that I was thinking of Pijul

  • This sounded interesting years ago. I never really looked into it though. Hopefully it's stabilized.

  • If you're using the Debian "no Frankenstein" approach, you're limited to what is packaged, but if you do your own thing, you can have it build/install whatever you want.
