You also opened an issue about the cursor jumping to the end of the line after the first character that we couldn't replicate--both behaviors could be caused by something forcing view redraws on your device.
Possibly a dumb question, but always worth asking: have you tried reinstalling?
Ah, that makes sense--that's the App Store build, not the TestFlight, so it doesn't have the new caching system. We just submitted the update to the App Store, so (Apple Review willing) you should get the smoother feed (and a bunch of other features) within the next couple days!
This is very odd--we've got most users reporting dramatic improvements, while a few are reporting regressions. Would you mind sharing some information to help us diagnose?
We're working on it! We just merged a PR this afternoon that gives us the hook to detect that second tap on the tab bar (turns out that's kinda tricky). It'll be in the next major release for sure!
I think that was Apollo? It's been a little while now, but I can't remember that feature ever being in Mlem. It's a good little piece of UX, though--I'll throw it on the issue tracker
Quick look isn't our long-term image viewer--we've got a better media viewer in development for our upcoming 1.1 milestone that's going to have proper gesture control and a better UX.
In the meantime we've got an issue open to get that gesture support added to the current quicklook as an interim.
Mlem is SwiftUI and FOSS! I know there are some issues with the current App Store build (weeps in janky scrolling) but we've got a major update hitting beta tomorrow and the App Store as soon as Apple will allow that's going to fix it.
We've got a much nicer image viewer in the works--quicklook is just a bandaid solution to offer some way to zoom and share images.
As a side note, quicklook is actually supposed to have that gesture. It works that way in UIKit, but it's broken in the SwiftUI quicklook. Thanks Apple!
I drive an entry level EV (Hyundai Kona) that advertises 4mi/kWh, which is roughly accurate (2-3 in the winter, 5-7 in the summer). That's 25 kWh for 100 miles.
Average cost of electricity in the US is, according to a quick Google, somewhere between $.15 and $.25 per kWh; where I live it's a steeper $.33.
Therefore, depending on where I charge, I'm paying anywhere between $3.75 and $8.25 to drive 100 miles--$1.50 short of the article's published $9.78 even with my expensive power.
In reality, though, I pay nothing--my office offers free charging. Show me an office with free gas.
That's a bug--we didn't remove it, though we did turn it down a little and change how we manage haptics at the backend. It looks like that solution might be a bit dodgy--we should have it much more robust in the next build or two
Thank you! This is very helpful. We've got this on our issue tracker as a top priority--we've got some promising leads on it and are hoping to have a fix out soon.
Could you please elaborate a little? Which elements would you remove or condense to save space? Here's a screenshot with the components labeled for clarity:
It's in Apple Review! We're hoping it'll be approved tomorrow.
