  • How would someone even know you're 'praying' in public ynless youre making a spectacle about it? Thats what people dont want in the streets, large public demonstrations that seek to suck in and take advantage of vulnerable people. People know they can go to any of hundreds of churches or religious institutions if they want that sort of thing, but accosting strangers in public with your religion is not appropriate. You wanna sit on a park bench with yojr eyes closed and talk to god in your head, no one is going to stop you though.

  • The Sopranos ran from 1999-2007. The Wire was 2002-2008. Its always sunny in philadelphia started in 2005. Curb your enthusiasm started in 2000. Scrubs started 2001. So its not even just that two of the most critically acclaimed shows of all time were made in that time period, but some of the most groundbreaking and influential comedy shows also. If you think breaking bad was some sort of turning point for TV you missed a lot of history.

  • Maybe 23 would be a better average, but even if wvery women in your line gave birth at 12.5 that only doubles the other. And its fair to say not every mother would have been a first child. Also many still would have been born later than 25, so it probably evens out pretty well.

  • Why would this be sketchy? If someone offered me a caffeine pill i would gladly take it, just like i would a shot of espresso. Its not even that its in pill form because you'd apparently be fine taking other pills from that person, but you draw the line at caffeine?

  • Im not assuming anything, im sharing my experience with theeads that ive read and commented in. You can share your experience too, im not going to invalidate it, but it might be helpful if rather than just alluding to some comment that got deleted, you posted what the actual content was. Also a comment getting deleted is a pretty tame response to something thats generating controversy, regardless of what that content was. I notice you didnt mention being banned.

Regardless people can make up their own mind. Hexbears threads are all there out in the open. Im just saying i vastly prefer the majority of discourse and conversation that ive seen over there than i do most .world threads, which end up being incredibly hostile, childish, and ignorant, in my experience. I have no complaints about blahaj users at all.

  • Ive found myself actually reading a ton of threads from hexbear, and ive found them to be some of the most civil and welcoming lemmy users PROVIDED they dont think that youre arguing in bad faith. They can be quick to dismiss anyone who seems like a bad actor, and i think thats totally fair, because its rude as hell to go into someones safe space and start acting like you know better or being dismissive of their beliefs. Especially when you dont actually want a well reasoned answer, you just want to stir shit. Hexbear users are great, opinionated people. Lemmy.world users (and mods especially) seem to be terrible, opinionated people. Hexbear totally doesnt deserve the bad rap they get imo, and their trans community is awesome.

  • So was appealing to right wing voters and alienating huge portions of the populations. In fact the Democratic Party took a LOT more 'actions' to lose this election than the people who stayed home did. Put your anger where it belongs for fucks sake.

  • Thats literally what i said, if youre gonna order, order from ubereats or doordash where they can refuse to take orders, so if someone is working they must be really desperate and unable to go without the income. At least theyre making the choice for themselves. Dont order from a pizza place because although they might still have to work, they'll at least be making a wage if theres no orders and just get to kick back. I personally barely order delivery anyway.

  • Well they'd be in just as bad a situation if no one ordered at all for a week. Theyre without income either way. I honestly think its better for doordash and ubereats drivers if people still order in poor weather. Pizza places on the other hand where the driver may at least be making some sort of flat rate, they may just prefer to sit there all shift with no orders.

  • I mean theres nothing that unsafe about the roads in the picture. Thats like regular for a lot of places and people don't just stop living. I worked as a delivery driver and had to drive in way worse conditions, whats shown wouldnt even have registered as a hazard at all.

  • There literally is only one party(no pun intended) worth holding accountable, and that is Biden, Harris, and the Democratic party leadership. Sure you can be angry at other voters for not voting how you wanted, but that's not productive, and ignores the issues that made them vote however they did. The Dems one job was to appeal to their voting base, and they failed miserably. Holding them accountable is the only solution that actually addresses the issue, which is that millions of people are dissatisfied with them. You're not going to bully a huge amount of Americans into changing their minds, but putting pressure on the Dems, whoch is what the 'undecided' voters were all about, might eventually yield results. It might have even happened in this last election if other so-called progressives hadn't taken such a strong stance trying to silence them, or accuse them of being russian trolls. If the polling numbers had been worse in the year leading up to the election, if the 'blue no matter who' crowd had taken a stand, if people hadnt theown away their only leverage months before the election even happened, then maybe the democrats would have altered their campaign trajectory and we wouldnt be in this situation. As it is the DNC are the only ones who are truly at fault.

  • People dont vote because they dont feel like their views are properly represented. If each individual issue was open to referendum or voting, the only people who would take part in that specific vote are likely people who are well informed and passionate about the issue. I think this would end up being a far better system than having to vote based on nebulous campaign promises that are hardly ever fulfilled, or when they are, your issue is tacked on or bundled with a whole bunch of irrelevant and even harmful legislation.
