  • You're talking like there's even a independent candidate that has the experience and willingness to do this. Normally it takes a life time of experience to even apply for the position. Trump being a complete nobody throwing money to get elected was a bad thing and now you expect some random guy on the Internet to find and sell an alternative to the American people 4 months before an election and beat both 2 people that've already begrudgingly won the election and can at least claim to have some experience. It isn't giving up to admit somethings impossible. I ain't giving up on becoming an astronaut if I can't do it by next week. If you'd like a 3rd party candidate feel free to find and prop someone up but best case they aren't going to be ready for a presidential run until 2028.

  • These are not equivalent losses. I think that's what you're not getting. Biden wins we get a senile leader with near dementia in charge for 4 years. Trump wins we get a Russian puppet who would literally kick start an insurrection over admitting his own losses. These are not the same thing, although both objectively suck.

  • Do they really. I've been lucky enough not to know or interact with anyone like this. My impression has been he's patently corrupt enough to push through things they want so they support him. Like conservative supreme court justices who abolished roe v wade. The man is a habitual adulterer and I doubt anyone thinks he hasn't had a mistress get an abortion. They don't care he doesn't represent their ideals, they just care he'll support them regardless.

  • Hah, no ones deluded enough to think trump wants to serve America or even that he gives a flying f*ck about what's good for it. This man is the pure crystallisation of "I don't need to win, I just need you to lose". He'll set this country on fire before taking any kind of responsibility or agency for the position he's vying for.

  • Build an alternative in... checks calendar, 4 months that can gain more votes than the active democratic nominee and beat the stir mad republican candidate whose supporters are voting for out of pure spite. This comment is either in bad faith or you literally have no idea how the election works. Best case here isn't even winning, it's taking as few votes from the sane candidates as possible because all this'll do is split the democrat voting block.

  • You're assuming that the cops percieve you as a threat and are guaranteed to kill you no matter what you do. I won't deny that's happened but its very far from the norm. In a lot of cases the cops are stupid, or negligent or scared and prematurely react without foresight. Add a civillian possessing a gun and and flagrantly threatening to use it and you turn a situation that could be disarmed into a inevitable violent conflict.

  • Most people don't wanna kill each other. And shooting back is probably going to raise the likelihood of getting murdered (i don't have any source for this). That said it is still absurd how the police flagrantly disregard peoples liberties, extra judicially execute them and get away with it with impunity. The societal contract is dead.

  • I mean its a company alerting you to an impending loss of service and asking the only people who can turn course to do something. Its not much different to pornhub putting up a "no longer accessible, reach out to your senator" banner instead of aggressive privacy invading age checks. I think a lot of american websites did something similar when gdpr basically forced them to stop tracking us without consent.

  • Facebook was a key factor in the rise of trump and the January insurrection. I respect you're realising the lack of substance in this pov, I just want to say I don't see the appeal in an American company shovelling Russian propaganda over a Chinese one shovelling Chinese propaganda. Not like we're gonna do anything either way to remove the grip these companies have on people. Just push them to ones that feel more "like we are".

  • Is the issue their censoring content globally or just at all. Twitter for example is known to cave to local governmental pressure but I suppose its limited to a particular region and people outside of there are still allowed access. Really I'm more disturbed anyone is careless enough to rely on social media for news. It's no secret their all just regurgitating what they or the platform owners want. Most youtubers actively avoid controversial content just to avoid demonitisation; if youre on a platform like truth social id be surprised if you ever get an impartial voice. I literally only scroll tiktok for cute and funny vids.
