  • Yeah that's probably true. Every laptop I've ever used that I cared about gestures on just had a touch screen. Not that I've ever really liked that either.

  • If I'm honest I hate touchpads in general, even Macs. I've got a brand new top of the line Mac issued by my company. I use a mouse.

  • You really don't get any of those things. Be a Mac fan if that's your thing, but don't try to pretend they're actually any better because all the PCs you've used have been trash.

  • He's talking about silpats.

  • Hell silpats are pretty cheap.

  • They are a bit. Kinda wish they were a tiny bit more rigid. That said, you can have my silpats when you pry them from my cold, dead hands.

  • I wouldn't want to go back to svn. I've gotten very used to git's ability to carve up changes, etc.

  • Not really. If memory serves it's just svn checkout branch_name

  • There's a good case to be made that the 35 year old restriction is dumb and should be amended out.

  • The concept of a master branch reaches back to CVS (that's Concurrent Version System, not a pharmacy), and Subversion. Makes sense it wouldn't make sense to you. Frankly it doesn't make sense to git at all, but that's a much larger discussion.

  • Right. They also invade the rights of Americans in other ways!

  • You must be one of the eight people keeping Arby's afloat.

  • Oh.. oh god that sounds awful.

Next time pop it out of the can. Slice into 1cm or so slices. Eat on a slightly toasted bun with cheese, a nice strong mustard, and onion.

Or cut it into 1.5cm cubes. Toss in hot oil with some seasoning and stir fry rice into it.

The secret to spam is to brown it up. It's still salty, but that's part of the point. Spam musubi is a common thing, too.

  • I've met someone who swore it was terrible. They didn't realize that people fried it up first. They'd been trying to eat sliced spam sandwiches straight from the can.

  • If you have it prepared correctly it's actually quite good. But prepared badly and it's really really bad.

  • You're doing a terrible disservice to those people who were, and still are, actually enslaved by using that term.

  • Where have you seen restaurants charge for an empty plate in the USA?

  • Those taxi unions had a monopoly in the areas they served (which was far smaller than Uber and Lyft's service area) and their prices reflected that.

If Uber and Lyft leave there's one thing sure to happen: a lot more people dying from being hit by drunk drivers.

This isn't a good thing any way you cut it.
