  • idk what mobile OS you have but on iOS you can actually long press text in an image and it’ll OCR it into an actual text element you can copy/paste, like so:

I would imagine Android would have something similar but idk

  • I’m probably doing exactly what they want here (e.g. having a conversation about it), but that letter is called “Eth” and was the Old English way of spelling the “th” sound: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eth

A number of linguistic buffs want to bring it back to the modern English alphabet.

  • Same dude. Younger me would have confidently said something boneheaded like “I’d just drink and smoke until a miscarriage”, older me realizes I don’t have any semblance of capability to understand what must be going through this poor woman’s mind. And then even if she had tried something unorthodox to terminate the pregnancy, these sick fucks probably would have tried to put her in jail for it even though she’s the victim.

  • Cool. Except the thing is I never said this wasn’t Harris’ plan. I said that the article is about an independent review of her plan, and therefore she’s not “play[ing] the tax card”. I would agree she’s “play[ing] the tax card” if she was making a big deal of this all of a sudden out of nowhere, but that’s not happening here.

  • This isn’t Harris “play[ing] the tax card”, the article isn’t even referencing anything her campaign said.

    FTA:

The new analysis from the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP) follows its in-depth examination of Trump's tax proposals, which the group found would cut taxes for the richest 5% of Americans and raise them for everyone else.

And directly from ITEP’s “Mission & History” page:

ITEP is a non-profit, non-partisan tax policy organization. We conduct rigorous analyses of tax and economic proposals and provide data-driven recommendations to shape equitable and sustainable tax systems.

    Source: https://itep.org/about/

Based on the “equitable and sustainable” piece, ITEP probably slants left, sure, but I’d say that’s far more owing to conservative tax policy having no basis in being equitable or sustainable for the past four decades at least.

That all being said there’s literally no reason to make this a dig at Harris, because, you know, the article isn’t referencing anything she or her campaign has publicly said…

  • I don’t know, I’m online quite a bit and wouldn’t say I see hate speech “often” at all. Then again, all of my socials are on the fediverse except for snapchat (yeah I know snap is a shit company - I use it to send pictures of food to a couple close friends), so there’s probably a bit of curation on my part.

  • You know I’ve been thinking about this since the memes are really driving home this association between the Hamberdler and McD’s. I wonder if this will push people away from buying their food on the long term and inadvertently lead to some subset of the population eating healthier than they otherwise would have. Probably just wishful thinking on my part though.

This AI tool queries the Tribune's voter guides, and it's powered by Google. Generative AI is experimental and it cannot answer every question perfectly.

Ah yes, the same AI that recommended putting fucking glue on pizza and suggested self-harm when queried with “I’m depressed”. Nothing can possibly go wrong there. How about you try, I dunno, a god damn FAQ? But no, that doesn’t generate hype. Disclaimer or not, this shit should be just as illegal as traditional election interference.

  • Imagine not only being that dumb, but then being dumb enough to not delete the messages when the post-nut clarity hits. Robinson is so lacking in judgement and critical thinking skills that not even one of nature’s most potent boosts helps him.
