What in the actual good god happened to Elon Musk?

That isn't even porn, it's just anime??? Like, it may be a bit cringe (it depends a LOT on how much your family knows about that kind of artstyle), but this isn't nowhere as bad as going to the new section when you have the nsfw filter off and 3 of every 5 games is porn...
Not something I would complain tbh, if you despise seeing this kind of workd try blocking tags
I really like your narratization of the events, for me it had to do with him always being shitty but people always turning a blind eye because they fall into grand futuristic schemes instead of recognizing the union busting, sex scandal fiend may be a piece of shit.
Also a factor you didn't mention was his fall into the alt right which has gained ire from most people over the internet (aside from right wing echo chambers or his twitter clique)
Tldr: All in all, Elon hasn't really changed how he operates, it's just that since aligning openly with the right he has been more open about a lot of shit and also has been boosting a lot of shit he probably doesn't really believe. This in turn has extinguished a lot of the support he had in the internet which leads to people actually scrutinizing his character and a lot more than what he says has come to light or is being analyzed in a different light to what it was back then, painting Elon as the evil and stupid billionare he actually is.
The actual comment:
I know you said to not say he has always been like that, but the honest truth is he has been like that, it's just that the media was used to taking everything he said at face value and he was a bit more restrained (although not necessarily on interviews themselves).
The amount of controversy about him busting unions, having poor working conditions, stealing credit from his engineers, this was always public knowledge even when he was generally beloved by the common redditors. This is not meant to be a dig or anything, but at least on the leftists circles I tend to participate in this was always mentioned whenever he was in talks, it's just that most people don't care when billionares are exploitative pieces of shit, yhey just care about the image they sell.
He was also always surrounded by stupid scandals pre 2021, be it the submarine pedo (where for some reason I saw people on refdit defending him), him suddenly denying his family had shares on emerald mines, him and all his sex and abuse scandals, it all made news but got forgotten as soon as he pulled an "epic move" like doge coin...
What I said before is regarding his actions and actual contributions to the companies he controls, which is related to why he is do shit at handling twitter as a company, now about his public persona, the tweets he currently posts and why he is hated en mass.
Most his memes have always been reposts, buy the problem is that he now aligns with the far right in the united states, there are many reasons of why this happened and this has been absolutely clear when he daid that shit about Dems being shit now do he moved towards republicans (which is a lie but it's the poiny where the public noticed he is a republican despite him being on the forefront of electric cars), due to his alignment and changes to the poilitical spehere on the US being on the right now means believing a lot of racial conspiracy lies, that environmental change is a lie (which ironically hurts his own business), that January 6 was justified, etc. Elon right now boosts about any and all right wing accounts he ca find by replying "how curious" to the most insane racist meme about the DESPITE BEING 13% meme
Shittiest sarcasm I've seen today...
Edit: wow, looking at his post history this wasn't even an attempt on sarcasm, what a sensible way to assert your "pro life" beliefs
It really isn't, at least in the way the term is used. For example, would you describe the feeling you get after snorting cocaine as a "health benefit" just because you feel better momentarily???
Most probably, but there is always the possibility of people either being underage, stupid or unaware due to upbringing (imagine being told your whole life something is in a particular way, it isnt unreasonable not to doubt that) and I prefer to engage honestly with people even if I look like an idiot, just in case.
Of course when clear bad faith is shown I will just not engage, or call it out, but in
I love this response, dont worry about length this is in part what I was looking for. Sorry for not replying earlier I have not been near my pc for a few days and replying on my phone is a pain since I'm clumsy and often delete long responses by accident. PD: I have really been enjoying the Cynic Clinic youtube channel.
Having said that, I think a better question would have been "what is a review", my problem mainly is that I have trouble grasping the term and its usage in each page. To clarify, If I want to recommend something I call it a recommendation and media essays are essays, you focus on whatever caught your attention as long as you are able to convey it in an interesting or thought provoking way, what I thought at the beginning of what reviews where was a general thought about the work exclusively intended for people that have already engaged with the work. My doubt has come from two places, first steam calls the "reviews" section to something that is clearly recommendations, it is extremely clear you are supposed to recommend over there, not include spoilers and generally point it towards someone interested in buying, so reviews over there arent really reviews.
Then comes Anilist, I have been using that site a lot more in the recent years for tracking purposes and I thought it would be great to engage with it a bit more towards people there since I dont usually talk about anime or manga too much irl , I saw the "review" section over the front page on each manga and usually its left empty, so I proposed to myself I should write a review. Here is where the conflict comes, it being so visible made me think it was for recommendations more than reviews but then again you could find proper reviews, recommendations and a mix of the two over there.
I wanted to be cautious just in case the review section is used for recommendations only as it would be pretty bad if people were using those spaces to see whether they should read a manga and they saw a full spoilers in first paragraph review...
Having said that I still havent decided whether to write a recommendation or more of an essay style review, both have their pros and cons and are interesting in their own right
If this is why people want their instances to do it that's mainly because lemmy hasn't give appropriate tools at the user level to block entire instances unlike Kbin or Mastodon. (For now you can kind of block seeing them with apps like connect for lemmy, but someone from that instance would still be able to see and repply to your comments, or send you DMs)
As to why a user would want to block an instance and not just particular communities, there are many use cases, for example I didn't want to bñur NSFW images but I didn't want to see my frontpage filled with porn, so instead of blocking 10000 communities I just blocked 2 nsfw instances. There is also the culture fostered inside some communities that can lead them to become filled with alt right people or openly facistic rcho chamber which often harrass people, especially minorities.
I agree completely this request is dumb, but this doesn't look like the community to have this discussion.
Hope this turns out well, I greatly enjoyed the 10th dentist sub on reddit since I felt it actually mangaged to make "upvote things you disagree/don't do, and downvote those that you do" as opposed to the extremely popular vailidation seeking posts over at unpopular opinion
"so I can still get the health benefits from it"
Seriously, you aren't getting healt benefits. You might feel better but that is the nicotine, it's a psychological effect not something that is improving your physical health in any discernable way.
Just understand, people don't smoke because it's good for their bodies, people smoke because it feels good, it's an important distinction.
I wonder if this is the community for this kind of petition, especially since the petition is instance specific and not about this community in particular.
I also didn't expect to like it as much, but I really ended up licking the character design (on chapter one I didn't really like the tomboyish look but after a while I got into the "coolness" of it all)
The protagonist personality and weird unpredictable shifts from goofy to a menace in expression is also endearing
I forgot to add Roborecall!!??
This might feel like a "demo game" to some people, also it's from 2016~ which is an era that didn't produce that many diverse and interesting vr titles, but this one feels really good.
It's an arcade shooter where robots have gone crazy and you have to kill them, the action and combat is fast, you can grab and dismantle robots in melee. One thing though is that like many of the games of that era, this game is teleportation movement based (like half life alyx when you play on the default mode) which is a bit annoying, at least for me.
You can always connect your quest to pc right? (Hope OP has a good computer to do that, haven't checked the quest 2 but I remember how much worse roborecall looked on quest 1)
Yes, this so much! VR minigolf is amazing, you barely need any space to play. The skill ceiling is jogh and the multiplayer is really enjoyable (you only see floating hands and it plays like normal minigolf)
The maps are colorful, the themes really interesting and also they look really special, like you are on an incredible theme parl of sorts, the inmersiveness of this game and gameplay are unmatched.
Haven't tried bonelabs myself but I heard the campaign was lacking so I just recommended boneworks instead since to me at least back when it released it felt like the most complete vr game.
Haven't tried the vr chat alternatives, I don't know if it is because I mostly visit Spanish talking communities but my experience has not really degraded. Admittedly I'm not a hardcore user who spends a lot of hours there, but I have fun whenever I hop in. I will try them zometime but since they are smaller they will probably have limited communities in my language, and speaking in english is a bit uncomfortable for me at least.
I had no clue DRG had a vr mod??? Literally my first time hearing about it... Lol
Lastly, I can vouch for the minecraft mod, if you set up a server correctly you can even play with friends that have it on desktop together, there are also movement commands that were fun instead of ussing the buttons on controllers.
You are a mod right? (Can't check because I'm on phone right now but I kind of remember seeing you before)
If so, I'm sorry, I'm really not blaming you or telling you guys to do a better work, at least not directly, I used to browse askreddit by new sometimes and support questions didn't appear that frequently so in principle I brlive this is a problem of "culture" and people being lazy not reading the rules...
I play a lot of vr, although some of the games may feel like "proof of concept" as in they are very limited, unlike Half life Alyx, Boneworks or Walking dead saints and sinners that look a lot more like proper fully fledged works. This post could be a little lengthy, some are full pc games translated really well into vr and some are original.
My favorite game is beat saber, it is a simple rithym game were you slash blocks with lightsabers, thing is, once you download mods and start engaging withe leaderboards, the game changes completely. The skill ceiling is insane and since the gae is physical you feel awesome moving around. (Just don't play around someone it may be extremely cringe)
Then any of the racing simulators are a great fit, project cars 2, assetto corsa with mods (the original) is really good to this day, dirt rally 2 is insane, you actually feel a sense of speed and at least for dirt rally I feel I drive better (maybe a bit slower lol).
Phasmophobia, it's kind of a puzzle game where you try to discover which kind of ghost is haunting a place, try to get some friends to play even if they don't have a vr since most people play on desktop, it's up to 4 people coop and really fun, you are not a ghost hunter, more like a ghost detective.
If you are into space exploration, elite dangerous is probably the most beautiful. No man sky is a ñot more game like but much more fun IMO.
Blade and sorcery, this is a physics based sword game with a huge variety and mods. The game is still in early access (At least from ehat I remember), but it has progressed a lot and is in active development, despite that it could perfectly be considered a finished product.
Tetris Effect, it's the same game but VR makes the environments even more beautiful (if you smoke weed seriously try this out, sorry to be that guy but it completely changes this experience, if not the game is still great)
Into the radious, this is probably the most inmersive survival vr game out there, it's stalker but vr. Some of the things that make it great is for example that you have a compass and map and you have to track your position phisically, you have a backpack but there are no slots, you just put things there and they remain wherever you left them and when you need them in a hurry you will have such a mess over there it will be really difficult to take what you need. Combat is intense and exploration is suspenseful.
Lastly, please don't underestimate vr chat, it is that popular for a reason although it's not really a "game".
There are a few more games but they are either proof of concept, too early on early access or just plain poets of good pc games but that aren't especial on vr.
This is not a support community, seriously why is there so much confusion arpund that does no one read the rules???
Even if they didn't, AskReddit is one of the biggest subs how come people don't know how this is supposed to work?
As an aside note, I don't like when OP's don't interact with the posts they make. Especially on posts like this it would have really interesting to gain more insight on where he was coming from or if the replies are making sense in his mind.
I'm probably reading too much into this, there are many reasons not to reply, but when I see a popular post that has 0 replies by OP I feel there's dishonesty.
