  • I imagine China is subsidizing the R&D of their EVs while American car companies are trying to recoup those costs

  • Gotta remember this is the shitpost community

  • I first heard it in 2019 or 2020 from the queer community but I have a feeling it has deeper roots

  • Looks like they were bought by private equity in 2010. 15 years later and they've sucked it dry, which seems to be happening to a lot of brands these days.

  • Could it be younger writers are now the age/career place where they can start putting unfamiliar content in?

  • No, I don't think I know anyone else that interacts with the fediverse. there are probably a handful that I know that are even aware of it.

I joined Lemmy when the API changes happened and tried to get a couple nerdy friends to join but they didn't bite

  • I don't trust polls anymore. Trump wasn't supposed to win '16 and it wasn't supposed to be a blowout '24 according to polls.

  • There's usually a main interview and then side interviews at a place of interest (workplace, crime scene, home)

  • The 60 minutes interview about his legacy was released a couple days ago. It's crazy he was able to sit up for that long without a spine.

  • Delta HQ is in Atlanta and when you look at the employees below executive level, you can see it. It's pretty diverse. Whether that's helped them become #1 in the US idk, but they seem to have capitalized on it.

  • I went overboard but only because I was having fun with it and didn't like the octopus of hard drives plugged into my NUC

  • Isn't it decentralized authority since every instance controls what they allow, not the CEO of mastodon?

  • Having a fulfilling weekend helps. The weekends where I sit and rot are where I get to Sunday night and feel like "oh shit I don't want to go to work I didn't enjoy my weekend".

But weekends where I've worked on projects, hung out with family and friends, gamed, maybe done some chores or just got out the house help lessen the blow. It also helps that I don't really sleep in much these days, like I'll usually get up at 9:30 or 10 and those couple hours instead of getting up at noon help make the day feel more worthwhile.

Doing all that usually has me tired enough going to sleep rather than doom scrolling or brain rotting. Which in turn leads to a gentler time waking up Monday.

And then on Monday itself I kinda ride the high of having a good weekend and that I can push through 8 hours to get back home and continue some of those activities

  • Didn't realize MapleStory is still kicking around

  • "Another method, used in Germany, lets people show their ID card at a post office and get a unique ID to access adult sites. This could potentially be done without logging the person’s identity, but as CNIL points out such systems require much work to set up."

This exactly what I was thinking of while reading the article. It's just like going to a bar and getting carded. As long as no info is stored, I would be fine with this if were seriously looking for a solution for the kids

  • Eh this is the one social media that the oligarchs can't censor so I'm fine with it sticking around. I'd rather have options than Elon and Zuck controlling the majority methods for average joes to get information out. Cause it doesn't seem like the fediverse is going mainstream for a while
