  • Technically

It's not even in the outermost layer of the atmosphere! The ISS orbital altitude is somewhere around 420km high (heh) while the thermosphere stretches from 85 to 600km up. The exosphere stretches far beyond that, up to 10000km or so.

  • It's so easy to armchair quarterback other peoples' lives, especially when they grew up in a different culture from your own.

  • I remember getting Medieval 1 as a Christmas present and playing all day! I didn't actually get Medieval 2 until many years later -- I was playing Rome for a long time.

I have to confess, I'm not a fan of the "Game: Remastered" trend. I love games this old partly because of the nostalgia. Re-releasing them this way erases that part of it for me -- plus, I just can't shake the "WTF, I need to re-buy a game this old?! Forget it!" feeling.

Duke of Death is iconic. I'm kind of surprised they didn't keep it in the track list for later games.

  • I've been there! A friend of mine told me about it.

I hadn't ever had pho before that. I thought it was good, but I'm not exactly a pho guru.

  • A classic :D

I haven't played M2TW in a while. Maybe I should pick it up again for another campaign. Hmm...

  • Why not? If they enjoy it, more power to them.

There's no law that says you can't replay games you've enjoyed.

  • Good choice. I've been going back and forth between Timberborn and Satisfactory for about the past month.

  • Ha, I was going to comment on this.

Boats are also supposed to have white lights at the stern and (if they have one) at the top of the mast.

  • If you liked the Three Body Problem, might I recommend The Killing Star by Pellegrino, Charles R? It's another slant on some similar themes.

  • Same for me re: "The Power". I read it last year (mid-2023, that is). I finished it, but it was a bit of a struggle.

  • Oh, it's real. I've been there. Beautiful place.

    Maybe you need newer maps?

  • Ah, gotcha. I never screenshot for stuff on the web -- like you said, you can just save the image. I take screenshots when I'm playing Civ succession games.

Or at work, but I use a MacBook at work.

  • I don't think so. I've been using PrintScr longer than the snipping tool has existed.

I'm not sure what "saving from source" would be for a screenshot. What do you mean there?

  • I have too many fucking apps on my phone already. I'd much rather use websites.

  • I prefer the PrintScr key on my keyboard, personally.

  • It's hard to pick out one as THE worst, but generally, if I have to use the site for some external reason, the experience is awful.

Health insurance, doctor's offices, etc are generally pretty bad. Oddly, tax sites aren't as rough.

Also oddly, vacation related websites are awful.

  • My house has a gas-fired boiler. In theory, I should keep heat during a power outage, right?

In practice, the circulation pump needs electricity, so the house gets kinda chilly during power outages.

Hmm, I should see about getting a backup battery for the boiler.

  • This is surprisingly uplifting, thank you for posting this
