  • I'm not sure what Gait is but I am sure that if people start to ditch their phones and mask it will get a lot more difficult to Geofence ID crowds or whatever.

I'm sure that as pressure on people increases their tactics and strategies will evolve as needed.

This is a great opportunity to push for open hardware to develop all the capabilities of a cellphone without any of the tracking.

  • I mean assuming you live in a city you are being photographed up to thousands of times a day already.

And a lot of those video devices are using Google Corel TensorFlow.

There was a YouTube channel of a guy that goes around videotaping people in public because it's legal.

His point was this is already the default mode of society.

It would be funny if people normalized full face masks with printed designs in response to this future.

  • Fair enough, I understand your view. For my use case I will vote with my dollar for 3.5mm and MicroSD.

Data recovery pulling a MicroSD from a phone is much easier than trying to desolder a memory chip with a hotair gun and figure out how to download it.

Also I am not cool with Google and Microsoft and Apple stacking the deck to send all the data to their headquarters, but that's just me.

YMMV. Choice is good. And yes I got what you meant about people. USB-C is engineered better than predecessor ports still without a proper stand or attentive care I can't see average user wear and tear not breaking some ports assuming they knew how to do it to begin with.

Maybe you could argue that a external NVME would be less hazardous but a stiff Flash is going to be harder to make a case for. I've seen people have more problems with USBC than USBA despite its improvements.

But that's just my view and if you have your own and we disagree I understand and that's okay.

  • Cable + MPV is the precise nightmare that lead me to be prejudice of these "non-solutions".

And plugging in a big ackward fat USB-C in the bottom of the phone sounds like a hazard way to break your USB port.

Avoiding phones without 3.5mm AUX and without MicroSD is easier. Problem averted.

Edit: Also, phone suddenly dead? No problem pull the MicroSD for your data.

  • Hyper Text Markup Language

    A. Yes it's a language.

    B. People who write HTML have been called Programmers for decades.

    C. Are you writing in a kind of pseudo code that the computer is going to transform into another form? Yes.

I think the problem here isn't that HTML isn't a programming language. The problem is that we don't further classify programming languages.

There should be Platform Languages and Client languages.

HTML is most definitely a Client Language.

  • This is why I only buy Androids with MicroSD. This problem was solved in the 1980s with the invention of floppy disks. Now it seems they have worked hard to "uninvent it" so your data needs to go through their servers before you are allowed to have a copy.

  • Management that has multiple conflicting ideology and walks of life but respect each other and has a professionalism and tolerance for people they disagree with and invite them to discuss instead of ruling with a iron fist like feudal fief lords.

  • I know it's shallow but the name was a real turnoff when I remember it being first announced.

I did eventually try it but it wasn't for me.

I really don't want to explain to people why I'm so excited that I use Barf OS Funtoo sounds like a Fungi thing.

I thank the man for his contributions to the collective ecosystem though.
