Forget it. If you can't imagine the government rounding up all the stockpiles of weapons from right wingers around the country, you should be against any further gun control. Our enemies are already well armed. Don't make it harder for the rest of us.

I like this topic. Pretty much wherever you go, people are practicing this kind of syncretic belief. This is why the "same" religion in two different countries has local flavor. More often than not, when a religion is expanding into new territory, it absorbs some of the preexisting local beliefs. Christmas is a good example within Christianity, with the Christmas tree.

Another example is Japan where they say "you're born with Shinto, marry with Christianity and die with Buddhism". Many places maintain animist beliefs alongside more recent religions. There are even communities in South Asia where people attend both Muslim mosques and Hindu temples!

The left should focus on real problems that matter to people in material ways. The right wants to make major cultural battles over some tiny fraction of people. They don't "engage with these issues", they create them. If you feel the need yo constantly defend yourself from every manufactured right wing outrage, you have already lost. By engaging, you legitimize their narrative. Focus on improving peoples' lives in measurable ways.

It isn't as if I ordered the world this way. If you can name another country that is a greater threat to the world, I'd be surprised.

It's not about "protecting Japan", it's about maintaining hegemony. US bases around the world are about projecting and maintaining US power. There's plenty to fight Trump on, but if he wants to dismantle the US empire, let him do it.

Do not engage with such bullshit. This is such a fucking non-issue, that is ultimately more about demonizing one of the most marginalized minorities in history, rather than "protecting" anyone.
