  • Yeah, basically habit of using two digits precision whenever the meter is too big. Conveniently, the first two digits are centimeters. This comic is weird because our dude is using centimeters above 100 and adds millimeters and 10th milimeters to his length, must have been bald shaved at a precision doctor to get these numbers.

  • I love how it works, I hate how careless they handle user data. I don't trust kdewallet because it forgot my wifi passwords multiple times, suddenly demanded a password for a passwordless wallet, or lost the wallet alltogether. I lost tons of old emails when kmail switched to akonadi storage instead of plain mail folders. And why did they change my desktop background after an update? Can't they just respect my settings and stuff a little bit -.-

  • According to some guy, I forgot who, when a writer uses third degree anonymous hearsay in his story for a series, the truthfulness and memeworthiness triples, the narrative and drama make up for lack of substance. "I think it is all made up bullshit for entertainment, but the ragebait makes me post this".

  • Because at the same time plasma succeded kwin and dolphin konqueror, the kool naming scheme became optional. The snipping tool used to be Ksnapshot, which was at least obvious naming in what it did.

  • Kelvin is for scientists.

    Celsius is for people.

Fahrenheit is a translation layer between Celsius and Americans. All their weather stations have been Celsius for ages, it's a societal decision to use an arbitrary unit instead. The "69F censoring" which turned out to be a rounding artefact illustrated that nicely. Their government could change that, power to them that they decide not to 🤷‍♂️

  • A) So is Celsius, you do everything in double digits until you turn on your oven.

    B) If 50F was actually room temperature (the middle of too hot and too cold), I could agree. The fact that is is not means for me the intuition is learned and not natural. And that I have to learn a few anchorpoints to convert my own intuition when I ever visit the US.
