  • But Admiral Patrick, how dare your ancient memes from times long forgotten not meet our modern expectations? Do you at least have a proper shitposting license?

I'll post mine as reference, may you gaze upon it and ponder the shortcomings of your horrible artifact-ridden memes!

  • Why should it be enough? We already have multiple Linux communities across different instances, decentralized and with alternative modteams, should we just merge them all into one conglamorate community with a single point of failure?

  • Everything nowadays that attempts to give back a little autonomy or freedom to the user is called piracy.

As long as an app could theoretically be used for piracy, even if it was made to circumvent toxic behavior of users' bought and paid for products, then it must be properly labelled as piracy and taken down.

I'll better stop before this becomes a rant.

  • I feel that the lifetime of phones is heavily dependant on their make. Huawai lasted me 1 year before it became a chore to use. My oneplus phones have both served me well, lasting some 5 years. The first one was replaced as the screen gave up, but my op7 still going strong with no notable performance or battery issues (only thing being that the company has started installing ads).

The oneplus phones did also cost about twice as much as my huawai phone, so that is to be considered.

  • Agreed for induction, but I'd mich rather use one or two minutes more cleaning the knobs than having to almost cook my finger on this 60-90 degree Celcius hot conventional stove's touch surface to change the plate from step 7 to 4 for 10 FUKKEN SECONDS! OUCH!

Having to restart it 2-3 times during cooking because it got confused (pan moved slightly to the side) is also rather annoying.

Edit & tl:dr: Touch works decent on induction, just please keep it far away from any conventional stoves.

  • I don't mind cleaning freshly dirtied dishes, but dishes that others have let dry in over the past hour? Yeah, that's your problem.

Always leave the workstation in the same state or cleaner than how you found it, and if I have to clean up or fetch dirty tools from the dishwasher then there'll be no cake for you! >:(

  • Same, I've got an Opel Corsa from 2016, so it's pretty much brand new.

The only things in the wheel are the speed control, wipers, and default lights.

For everything else required for driving, such as fog lights, emergency lights, front and back Window heating, AC, radio, and of course the shift stick, I'll need to remove a hand from the wheel.

Luckily for me, the Touchscreen in the middle only handles less important things like navigation and external music sources.

  • “Fixed issue with ssl python libs,” or “Minor bugfixes.”

In other news, never work more than one person on a branch (that's why we have them). Make a new related issue with its own branch and rebase whenever necessary, and don't even think about touching main or dev with anything but a properly reviewed and approved PR (in case they aren't already protected), or I'll find and report you to the same authority that handles all the failed sudo requests!

Also, companies that disable rebasing are my bane. While you can absolutely do without, i much prefer to have less conflicts, cleaner branches and commits, easier method to pull in new changes from dev, overall better times for the reviewer, and the list goes on. Though, the intern rewriting multiple branches' history which they have no business pushing to is also rather annoying.

  • That's one of my favorite theories as to what "sentience" is.

We humans might just be so riddled with mutations and barely functional genetic traits, which tend to be more in our way than help, that we just might have succeeded in banging together a "mundane sentience" by sheer amount of error processing alone.

Whether this is true is of course up for debate, but it would mean that we can achieve AGI just by feeding it enough trash and giving it enough processing power. Bonus if the head engineer sometimes takes a hammer to the mainframe.

  • Ah, that does make sense. I though they were referring to modern "native"/official languages, and not the actual native languages.

I'm not sure how relevant the native languages are in a modern setting, but I'm sure one could provide some of the languages in relevant regions as optionals. Though, of course not all of them in all regions. :)

  • Are we talking the USA or America here?

If we're talking about the USA, then I'm surprised to learn that it sports 300 native languages. Most countries I'm aware of have somewhere between 1 to 3, with emmigrants and other good folk likely adding some 100+ non-native languages to the mix.

Regardless, the equivalents to primary and high schools here, in my corner of Scandinavia, usually have a platter of native and English as required languages, 2-3 optional local languages, as well as up to two "exotic" languages (eg. other major languages that are not immediately relevant, such as mandarin). I think you can choose up to three optional or exotic languages, but most people just take the minimum of one.

While not covering 300 languages, it gives the students some choice regarding what languages they might be interested in, and I'm sure that you'll have states where some of your 300 languages are more popular than others.

  • The paragraphs seem fine to me, they are separated in easily consumable chunks so you don't get lost (at least on computer). I also like your structure, very straight forward. If I had to point something out, it appears to me that the disclaimer and intro provide the same gist but differently worded.

I assume Toes is asking for a TL:DR or summary in bullet point format. I'm not sure if I agree that this review is long enough to warrant a TL:DR, nor would profit much from from being made more concise, but those are just my two cents.

EDIT: While I don't necessarily agree with Toes on article anatomy, most of us here should be grownups. Differences in opinions are to be expected, so let's be civil and not downvote or throw jabs without reason. How about people make a comment instead, or just upvote the comment they agree with if it's already there? I find that this results in a much more enriching experience.

  • Do you latch your sheets below your matress' corners? They're usually meant to fully cover the top and all sides, except for those with no elastic.

Or, perhaps the elastic has gotten too lash, so they slip out from below and ride up the sides?

I don't have a proper solution for washing and drying, except putting them in a washing bag so they don't eat all the other laundry.
