  • The past few years have had at least four reaident evil games in development at the same time.

Re3make, 4make, village, that weird multiplayer one all going at the same time. It's really not as unusual as you are making it seem. People like resident evil more than ever right now.

I imagine the situation is similar to this, but maybe mobile or switch games involved.

  • There's not many good options. It's a genre that was built specifically for a keyboard, after all. Everything that isn't a laptop or desktop is gonna be a frustrating downgrade.

Maybe the answer is getting into adjacent genres of games. They aren't the same, obviously, but there's a lot of overlap with the adventure game genre, especially, and the visual novel genre is more distant but a lot more accessible away from a pc

  • Don't let the article being a bit clickbaity diswade you from the actual good this law is doing, however. It's a good thing and a good solid step forward to curb the disposable economy we've had for the past 20 years.

  • The economy booming means that shareholders make big returns. It doesn't have any connection to workers. Worker benefits are rarely connected to how well economies or companies are doing. It doesn't really relate to inflation. It's just a measure of how well businesses are doing. They are doing well thanks to taking more out of your monthly.

  • People here are blaming politics. I don't think that's it. The quality of comments and discussion here has taken a massive nosedive for the past four months or so, no matter what the topic is.

I think it's pretty simple, the terrible won. Everyone who wants good quality discussion left quickly when people started to act terrible. They didn't come back. So now we've created the toxic enabling environment that is enabling it hard today.

You can fix it with moderation, but that's a lot of work, and people get really angry.

I'm pretty close to just cutting my losses on lemmy. It's heading in the same direction as reddit but with less moderation, and simply because it's smaller, the awfulness is more visible.

  • I'm not whining about downvotes, I said they don't matter here. I'm annoyed at whoever set up a bot to downvote the comment they hate. There was like a hundred in ten minutes. It's obvious. Downvotes are fine, and botting is pathetic. You understand this, I'm sure.

  • No? I know the West has a giant boner for China Bad, but so far, tencent has been .... fine. Certainly better than what a lot of American companies have been doing. Hasbro is a good example.

Edit to point out, "Oh good, the vote bots have arrived on lemmy". Wonderful, this will be great for the community 👍

Whoever set that up, it's pointless on lemmy because votes are pointless and you're pathetic

  • they typically don't buy up companies (they have a few, not the majority), they typically just invest in a portion of the company

that is what their CEO is complaining about, they didn't see much of a return on their investments. Mostly because the companies were over-valued when they invested and not everyone can be fortnite.
