  • It's not about Caitlyn, it's about every other trans person. If you decide one person has lost the "right" to not be deadnamed, you are inherently supporting the deadnaming of others by those that have decided they haven't "earned" it. You are participating from a position that sees a person's chosen identity as something that can and should be taken away. If you have any love for trans people at large, don't treat their identity like a tool that can be used to manipulate or hurt them.

  • Lol. Making shit up to be mad about.

    Where...did I defend the arsonist

You didn't. And I didn't say you did.

Your response however, did say [it's] a “silly dance app”

You keep trying to put words in my mouth. I said "shitty video app". Admittedly course, but hardly "vitriolic" compared to setting someone's workplace on fire. I ask again why you think that's seemingly so much less offensive to you than my three word critique.

this sentiment seems rampant on Lemmy. Which is why I said this is a bubble.

    Not what a bubble is.

See? No assumptions, just [no] reading comprehension.

    ftfy

  • You're making a lot of assumptions and accusations given my reply was barely two sentences. "Vitriolic". I'm not the one freaking out about a single app taking itself down for 12 hours, setting fire to offices, or jumping to an arsonist's defense. Maybe work on figuring out where that response is coming from, instead, and why you think it's more ok then what I said.

  • Short answer? The service is still incredibly small and posts aren't usually flooding in second-by-second like you may be used to on the much bigger sites, so one over-agressive user can easily dominate the front page for a while, purposefully or not. That's just going to happen.

If you'd rather not block the whole community, hide the individual posts as you spot them to free up your feed again. If one user keeps dominating your feed, just block them. That's the best we can do as regular users.

  • It was a stunt. Incoming administration has been saying all week they were gonna "save" it. They pulled the plug temporarily as an FU to Biden and support for the incoming fascist that they know they can control better (with stunts just like this).

  • It's interesting how the past few months have made it super easy to tell who is an indefensible piece of shit. Lots of previously unassuming-to-"cool" personalities suddenly going whole-hog for fascism in the US.
