This is anecdotal, but I've known several people who immigrated and then chose to return to their home country. In at least one case, specifically because of the cost of living.

Funny how when China makes a bunch of cars it's "over capacity" and needs 100% tariffs, but Japan has been doing the same thing for decades and no one batted an eye.

Do you own a cell phone though? Those things can collect way more data than any car ever could.

My mom has one, and the door handles are so awkward, I really don't think I'll ever get used to them. From the inside, it's easy enough, but it's also just a button, with no physical unlatching mechanism, and the window has to go down slightly when the door opens, so I would not want to be in there if it lost power.

She does generally like the thing though.

Anyone who works nights, or an evening job that runs late like a bar or something, is currently used to having the date change in the middle of their "day". I don't think it's really that big of a deal. It would be super weird at first, but kids who grew up with it would find our current system just as bananas as we would find this.

China is threatening US global dominance and the US is freaked out and very motivated to cast suspicion on anything Chinese. Remember that "spy balloon" that turned out to be a nothing burger? I wouldn't pay attention to anything so insubstantial as "fears raised". That's all they're doing - raising fear.

Yeah, that too, and there's also a fair bit of overlap between "conservative voices" and "factually incorrect". Vaccines come to mind as a topic where conservatives would benefit from platforms not being allowed to weigh in on what's accurate information and what's made up nonsense.

It's not that they can't moderate their content at all, it's specific restrictions on how they can moderate. For example, not being allowed to ban someone who's running for political office, i.e. they're still salty about trump getting banned from twitter for a bit.

But yeah, it's fun to watch the right disregard their professed values whenever it suits them.
