  • Yeah, there’s a big difference between “this herb has some naturally occurring anti-inflammatory compounds” and “this berry is a cure for cancer and lupus and the common cold.”

Regarding yoga, stretching and bodyweight exercises are definitely a good part of fitness, but the mystical side of it is complete horseshit.

  • One of the worst things we do as a culture is setting arbitrary milestones and then shaming ourselves or others for missing them.

Are you expecting to graduate? You’re better off than many who didn’t finish at all. You stumbled, you’re moving forward. You’re going to be fine.

  • I’m not a lawyer or barrister, but there are already laws against fraud, which is what you are describing. There’s a huge difference between deliberately over claiming and making a mistake, and what the article is describing is at worst honest mistakes.

  • If the Vancouver woman you referred to is the same one I read about, she was addressing the paperwork issue and was arrested anyway. She told ICE she would pay for her own ticket to return to Canada and was detained in torture conditions anyway. When legal, press, and Canadian government attention were brought to bear, she was told “if you had just said you would pay for your own ticket you could have avoided all of this.”

Unless you are a white US citizen with significant money, I wouldn’t recommend leaving the country.

  • I think after decades of the term “oligarch” being used in popular culture and nationwide news coverage, people in the “forgotten middle” know what oligarchy is. She’s doing the exact thing “liberal elites” get accused of doing all the time which is insulting her constituents’ intelligence.
