Thanks! I designed the pricing structure so that each aspect of the wheelchair experience is gated behind carefully designed paywalls that are significant enough to help me my boss get a good bonus at the end of the year but not significant enough that all those poor people out there can’t afford it if they have too. Ideally the cost is always a bit more than people can afford to pay since usually people have more you can squeeze out of their social connections if the need is desperate enough (we are optimizing right now for pricing structures that most encourage customers to make gofundme’s to engage with our products which is cool to be part of a new project).
FYI, Haiti was the first nation to revolt against the globalized system of chattel slavery and the west will likely NEVER stop punishing them for it. The U.S. government has overthrown democratically elected presidents of Haiti several times including most recently in 2004.
It is vitally important for USians and other westerners to understand the historical context of Haiti and refuse to reduce it to a violent backwater place in the way colonialism and racism attempts to do. There are reasons Haiti is the way it is and those reasons primarily have to do with Haiti daring to stand up to western colonialism/chattel slavery and winning.

But actually you are missing the whole point of the connection between money and magic. Money gets its value from creating a desperate scarcity of magic. I definitely have RSD, but also I think people are missing the fact that I made my post in a moment of feeling grief that I think is perfectly genuine outside of the context of RSD (though it definitely amplifies it). A lot of responses were focused on explaining what I should do, or why I was wrong and I was just looking for some connection with other ADHD people who also feel like saying sorry after ADHD fuckups is actually a necessary survival skill and much more logical than people on the outside realize.
I understand what are you saying but forget about overall size of the community for a second, what lemmy would really benefit from is more niche subreddits with active users. That will only come from more people on lemmy and that is the real reason to desire lemmy growth besides a basic wish for other people to not be stuck in a shitty corporate silo.
I dont get the hate for a voting system, I think naming it after karma feels a bit weird…. but in general a voting system does hugely improve the quality of crowded conversations and naturally avoids the problems web forums have with only one conversational thread being possible at a time.
People get angry that downvotes should be applied only in valiant noble ways, but honestly sometimes you just gotta downvote somebody for being an asshole and if they are actually an asshole than usually the huge amount of downvotes defangs someone’s ability to claim their viewpoint is held by some exaggerated significant portion of the community.
You have to understand, this late into the slow motion apocalypse the writers were starting to get eaten by hellhounds and so there is a lot of rushed writing/plot arcs that just doesn’t much sense when you look too closely because it isn’t like the lizard people were going to reduce the apocalypse guild writers quota just because some of them (most of them) had been eaten by hellhounds, the lizard people SENT the hellhounds so that would have just made the lizard people look incompetent.
I mean, it’s the same old enshittification thing and all you know the story.
I would actually consider using normal reddit a nightmare, lemmy like the rest of the fediverse softwares mostly just feels like a community theater play put on by people who really passionately care about what they are making but have zero budget and so long as you go into not expecting a blockbuster movie it is awesome.
