If indeed only this sentence was the reason for Esken to cancel the meeting - it is a clear overreaction. Nobody should be on board with targeting civilians - meaning: they should not get attacked on purpose. Never.

Israel has to defeat Hamas decisively and Hamas just tries to save their own sorry asses by telling the civilian population to stay where the israelian ground offensive will start. It is a deliberate plan by Hamas that civilians get killed. They want those pictures to drum up their support in Arab states.

Look - HRW is a biased against Israel on principle. Unless there is a second impartial confirmation, you shouldn’t take anything they claim as anything but speculation.

There is not a single sentence in the article that suggests that Israel is using phosphor as a weapon. As the article stated - it is routinely used as smokescreen or to mark areas.

The Israeli army at least tries to not kill civilians. It will happen though, because Hamas purposefully hinders the civilians to leave the area they were told to evacuate.

And quit shitting only on Israel for the current situation of Gaza and Westbank. Arafat walked away from a Palestinian state in 2000 and chose terror instead. The continued terror attacks CREATED the awful living conditions in Gaza.

We should condemn Hamas.

Hamas IS being condemned, rightfully so.

But there is no need to cheer on the extermination of non-Hamas Palestinians in Gaza at the same time.

I have seen no German or International Media that cheers on the killing of Palestinian civilians. None.

There will be deaths of civilians because they are close to Hamas Targets though. This is unfortunately the reality of war - but those deaths are on Hamas.
