One other somewhat bizarre option is that I've heard there is a large deaf community in VR Chat and they actually have a modified sign language that they use.
I don't know exactly how "modified" it is, but for learning any language the best way is to find people to talk with. Might work as a good springboard if you have VR.
Americans tend to describe locations more by density and arrangement rather than population. Kinda similar to how we refer to distances in time rather than distance. In a city you have a LOT within 5 minutes of you at any time. Within a rural town you have... maybe 5 neighbors within that same span of time walking.
Cheating is definitely in the minority of my social circle. I know of 2 amongst 100. At least people who were shameless enough to be admitting it.
That said, I do have maybe 5 open relationships in my friend group? I don't usually ask, so maybe 10 total. My wife and I are monogamous. If you're not, whatever, you do you. It isn't a religious thing, it's just how we roll.
But good lord at least talk about it, agree on it and stick with it. If you don't then you're a dick.
Well, a lot of people jumped ship from other platforms because of politics. So they're gonna be here.
It's a time where politics are fucking with all of us, so it's topical.
reddit still exists and has a larger base, so if you want to talk about stardew valley, just by the nature of numbers that's where they're gonna gather.
There are a lot of "lurkers" here, not a lot of posters. Seriously, notice how often The Picard Maneuver, or Stamets keeps popping up.
God I hate to be the guy who says this especially because I am ABSOLUTELY being hypocritical right now, but you gotta be the change you want.
I think you have a point, but also you've cranked that point to 11. Possibly 12.
Like yes, women can be really infuriated by how often they get hit on. I know the main reason my wife wanted a stereotypical wedding ring with a single diamond was that "it'll keep the flies away"
But also... people interact with you in public. It's like... a property of public spaces. Indeed talking to my wife in a public space is how we met.
The way you make it sound from your description would be that asking some woman directions would be a social fopah. Hell, where does just "having a conversation" land for you then? If you leave without asking for a number, is it different?
There's a difference between idle chit chat and approaching like Johnny Bravo.
One thing that I really wonder is if things have at all improved amongst men. It's gone downhill with any Andrew Tate fans but like, if a group of 18 year olds watched Animal House or Revenge of the Nerds today, how many would be outright appalled?
They were popular in the day. Specifically among men. I just feel like it would be a fascinating experiment that could demonstrate some progress is being made. Perhaps people can breathe a bit easier.
I'm genuinely skeptical that most polls are an accurate sampling of the population. Most people I know would never sit through a phone poll. Most polls reek of phishing. One of the very first phone polls said that Dewy would beat Truman in a landslide. It was completely wrong because it was predominantly rich people who had the phones to even answer the polls.
Who has the time for polls? Who drops by the candidate booths at the state fair? It's a type for sure.
The only poll I have been a part of all last year was a phone poll entirely about optometrists and eye appointments and how they should be handled in the healthcare system. I couldn't even finish it because the entire things was just... painful to go through.
It's even worse today. The amount of interconnected systems we have in play would be absolutely chaos to try and separate.
We didn't have to worry about power grids, networking, food was FAR more local, it would take years to try to isolate yourself from it all on a statewide scale.
Reminds me of the door knockers who got paid to shill some libertarian a while back. So Many reports of people with absolutely no motivation, reading the scripts, and sometimes even leaving with a vote for bernie.
It totally is in my experience. I have literally sat in meetings pushing AI... but absolutely NO steering or discussion on what we ought to do with it. They will relabel related things that have existed for years as AI.
It's like instead of having a bunch of nails and needing a way to pound them in, we've been given a nail gun and a requirement to use it.
"But we sell balloons"
"Dont worry, the nail gun will make everything better"
Checks out
