  • I'm not an Orlov expert, but it sounds to me like he's aligning with the West, which means aligning with Nazis. My point is that there is a law in Russia which says that you cannot rehabilitate Nazism. Though this law and its enforcement is imperfect, it is significant that such a law even exists, since we know that something like this could never exist in Ukraine or in the USA, since Nazism is so profoundly pervasive in these places.

  • There’s a recent story about Russia’s rehabilitation of Nazism law here:

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-65024254

It was implemented years ago, at which time the American corporate press did quite a lot of hand-wringing over protecting Nazis’ right to openly plan the extermination of Jews like me. When your own media sources are defending Nazism, maybe it’s time for a little self-examination and reflection?

  • Hopping from a nation which employs fascist militia to a fascist-governed one isn't a solution to anything. All fascists involved suck shit but sheesh, let's not hope for a worse outcome

Hopping from a country in which Nazism is official policy to one in which Nazism is outlawed. It really is exactly the same, which is why the people who say this always make excuses for Ukraine and the fascist dictatorship masquerading as democracy which is the USA.

  • “It’s Florida and Texas and red states that are the problem,” I tell myself as my entire country continues to collapse in a thousand different ways. “It’s Florida and Texas and red states. If we just had 60 Democrats in the senate and a more moderate SCOTUS (like in 2008), everything everywhere would be perfect! I mean, just look at all Obama managed to accomplish during that time! Endless drone strikes, corporate welfare, and a health care “plan” endorsed by the Heritage Foundation that made no difference to health insurance prices (which continued to rise as though nothing had happened) and left tens of millions of people uninsured or underinsured and which led to tens of thousands of deaths over the years due to lack of coverage—and that was before the pandemic even started! It’s not the system designed by genocidal slave owners that’s the problem, we just need to get rid of the corrupt elites and replace them with GOOD elites and everything will work itself out!”

  • Also really? I despise the US too, and it’s leadership has been a force of immense evil, but you can’t think of a single positive thing someone in the US has done, or a single positive thing that has happened in the US in the past 50 years? Not a single thing?

It's like trying to find the good in apartheid South Africa. Something positive must be there (the music), but overall, it's not good.

    Their systems of organization.

We should adopt this here. Other countries with relatively old metro lines (South Korea's oldest was built in 1974, China's oldest is three years older) have a shitload of people using them but also ways to repair and upgrade things (already discussed by others in this thread) without too much inconvenience. NYC doesn't upgrade its subway because it's run by shitlibs who are owned by the bourgeoisie, who lose money when society is even remotely functional.

  • If everything good is impossible, maybe the USA should just cease to exist? Why is it that China can achieve so much so quickly when the USA hasn't achieved anything remotely positive since the fucking moon landing?

  • Not disagreeing with you but do just want to note that as an American, when I travel into Canada, the instant I cross the border, it’s like a weight being lifted from my shoulders. Everything about it just seems less frantic and insane. Canada is also an imperialist settler-colonial dictatorship (a few mining companies in a trench coat), but one which does indeed do a better job of providing for its people.

  • I can also recognize that their autocratic ruling party represses and censors their citizens, and I don't think that is a good thing. I wish the best for China and truly hope that some day, all their citizens will be able to express themselves freely.

The USA imprisons more people per capita than China. There are also limits to free speech in the USA, as evidenced by the bourgeois regime’s brutal crackdown on the George Floyd protests among countless other examples. Which society is more free exactly?

  • Americans generally being unaware of how far their country has fallen behind the rest of the world in virtually every respect (except sucking). Despite increasingly obvious problems that intensify every day, large numbers of Americans believe that American “democracy” is the end of history and as good as it gets. If you criticize their country, they will blame the other major political party (even if both major parties have indistinguishable far-right policy outcomes since they are both owned entirely by the bourgeoisie) or say that other countries also have problems, ignorant of the fact that those problems are either less severe or caused by the USA. Either that, or Americans will assume that you are a paid shill or insane, since no one on Earth could possibly have a legitimate reason to despise America. American ignorance is profound and purposeful even among highly educated Americans. Americans believe the shittiness and backwardness of their country, the half lives even the happiest and most successful among them live, to be humanity’s permanent and ideal state.

  • I just didn't understand the way your question was worded because it was garbled. I don't have any reason to host a data server and I don't live in China, so you got me, I've never been personally impacted by Chinese government censorship and repression. Obviously that means it doesn't exist, QED.

“The Chinese government has never done anything that has negatively impacted me or anyone I know, I have never known a Chinese person I disliked, yet I passionately despise China. I am extremely different from Republicans who have never set foot inside an American city yet are terrified of doing so. It’s you tankies who are propagandized, not me!!!!”

  • Outright climate denial, avoidance of actually engaging the question, and zero mention of any policy Republicans might advance on climate.

Democrats will admit that climate change is real but either do nothing to stop it or keep making things worse (with Biden signing more oil drilling permits than Trump because he is a puppet of the bourgeoisie, like every elected official in the country).
