  • I bet if your house slides in the water anyone inside may well die. You gonna move? If not, why? If it's because it doesn't seem probable, then revisit your comment to me. Half of one percent of probability is not "basic things that save lives", that would be seat belts, air bags, windshield wipers, a horn, etc. etc.

  • Probably every vehicle has some number of stupid deaths. I assume you don't fly because Boeing fucked up. That's way more than 83 people if just one plane crashes.

It's just way cooler to shit on Tesla though. Very trendy. Very cool.

    0.052% (232 / 443,956) fire rate.

Comparison to Industry Average: For context, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports an average fire rate of 1.5 crashes per million miles for all vehicles. Tesla’s fire rate of 0.052% (based on the reported 232 fires) is significantly lower than this industry average.

But it's not very cool to do research that way shrug

  • They were the only reasonable EV option for several years. They still have the best available charging network if any EV.

I'm not selling a car that is paid off bc the owner of the company stopped hiding that he's obvious trash.

  • Can you just rewrite it for us here now because it doesn't make any fucking sense? I dont agree with the guy you're replying to, but I can't understand wtf you're trying to say. It reads like it was written by a stroke victim.

  • Yeah... I'm not convinced. After this election, I think the answer is less "it takes everyone" or "it takes all kinds" and more "here's evidence there are quite a lot of people we could do without".

Edit: and a lot of the people we can do without are ostensibly lefties. You want to call maga folks stupid for being single issue voters, then you can't be a single issue "conscious objector". I hope if you didn't vote for Harris you get the rough side of the next two years for being a magnum toolbag.

Edit 2: all you .ml shitbirds can also lick an outlet as far as I'm concerned

  • How can you NOT appear to talk down to someone who is Trump vocabulary / concept or less about issues that are actually complex and nuanced? Trump can talk out of both sides of his mouth to different groups with radically conflicting messages tuned to the audience. If anyone did that while trying to cater to the left, you would be immediately strung up for being duplicitous while at the same time being excoriated for being vague and nonspecific with your plans. No "concepts of a plan" are going to fly for someone running outside the Republican party.

Trump is basically bowling with the gutter guards up and it's because the Republican electorate is angry and not exactly... uh... discerning when it comes to complex or academic issues.

  • Wouldn't that be great, and I hope you get the chance to vote for it if such a candidate emerges. The extra gerrymandering and crippling of voter rights or just, you know, suspension of elections between now and then may have something to say about it though.

Trump is not doing anything but saying "I'll do this! And I'll do that! And I'm the best at this!" And as long as he says enough bullshit all the voters say "of course he lies and says what he needs to say to get elected, but not about my thing!" Even if every week he contradicts the last thing he says.

Short memories, unsophisticated voters, and single issue voting mean this strategy will basically always work. Remember, they have voters with single issue in, and you (or at least many in this thread or on Lemmy) are single issue out. Maybe well meaning, but functionally not a particularly smarter approach to getting the best available leader. It's all "Fuck you, me!" and take the rest of us with you.
