  • I actually live close to two microcenters! And I could walk to a best buy, but I never do. I sure miss frys, but I'm glad microcenter is still around.

  • One would hope! But sadly they caught me with my pants down this time.

  • You've summed this up very well! I was a group one pirate in my youth. Then I got a job and a girlfriend who liked cable TV. Then my brother and I traded off paying for Netflix. Life was good. I was happily in camp 3. Then we cut the cord and I was even happier with what I was paying for my media experience! Then it all went to shit.

I feel like I blinked and everyone had their hand in my pocket for $10 - $20 per month, and there was still nothing I wanted to watch. So I dusted off the black flag and am once again very happy with my media experience.

They pushed me back to group 2. I'm paying for my content, and I feel like I'm paying a fair price. My money just isn't going to the media conglomerates who ruined everything. I built my own set top box / dvr out of a sbc. I couldn't be happier.

  • Ah ok. I thought there was something specific about this man or company being evil, like that Massey energy guy is to coal mining.

  • How do you know that the money I saved on hardware isn't going straight to games that I can stream to it from my desktop over steam link?

  • And elections have consequences

  • And here i am thinking I'm original...

But you're absolutely right. It's perfect for basic browsing, signal or to ssh into my vps. It's not at all suited for gaming, but maybe MS flight simulator will add support for dual core celerons next month because of me!

  • With your help, we will get to 2% and kick off the year of the linux desktop!

  • I went to DC as part of a school trip in 2000 or so. My AP political science teacher was the son of a prominent Chicago politician. So we got some special tours. I remember shooting a couple baskets on the Supreme Court Justices' private basketball court. And I remember wondering how often any of those old fucks shot hoops in there.

We also got a tour of the senate where we were able to wander around freely on the senate floor. It was pretty damn cool. Strom Thurmond's seat was in the front, and I stole his pencil. It was a regular #2 pencil, but it said united states senate on it instead of a brand. And it was full of chew marks.

  • I promised myself I wouldn't cry because slackware didn't make the cut, yet here we are.

  • I cut my teeth on DOS. I use dir instead of ls. Please don't shame me.

  • In 20+ years of linuxing, I've never thought about putting the f first until now.
