  • I'm doing trisquel on a sugar toast for my 5 year old and she loves it!

  • Everything has some sort of top:

Slacktop, craptop, proxtop, oldtop, wifetop, and batocera (because I keep forgetting to ssh in and change it).

  • Not Mackey D's, but I placed an order for $100 of taco bell recently. They were still making it when I got there. It was the manager and 2 employees busting their asses to crank out the order as fast as they could while a line was forming at the counter and drive through.

The manager brought me the food and apologized for the wait. I handed him 3 x $5 bills as thanks. I genuinely appreciated the service and wanted to say thanks.

  • I had a 5600x on a b450 board with Kingston pc3600 too. I had no problems running xmp profiles and optimized defaults. If cool & quiet was enabled by default then I didn't mess with it.

I rarely use suspend or hibernate, and I don't encrypt my drives, so I can't speak to those issues. But even though you say you don't need the speed, I think you'll be very pleased with this upgrade if you go through with it.

  • No reason here, other than the fact that it's not slackware.

  • Land of the free, home of the brave!

  • It's nice to find another slacker in the wild.

  • Slackware needs to learn how to be hip like arch. I'm the baby in our irc group, and I'm 40. All the cool kids are using arch BTW.

  • What the hell Michigan? I expected this from Indiana, but I thought you were better than this.

  • Nope, consumer. It's a retro computing project / mid-life crisis. I'm trying to faithfully rebuild the first computer my family got when I was junior high aged. I've got the cyrix CPU, the EDO RAM, and the generic AT case. I just need to solve this cooling dilemma and I'll be playing Chuck Yeager's air combat in no time!

  • Nope, just the socket and its broken off tabs. The socket is soldered to the motherboard too.

  • Tell that to my baby AT tower! It's lying down flat for now, but it's less than ideal.

  • I got it from an e waste trader I think. Someone who goes around to estate sales, thrift stores and scoops up anything beige on local marketplaces.

  • Yeah, I had one of those back in the day too. This is socket 370, so my choices for aftermarket coolers are pretty limited.
