  • FMLA guarantees nothing about getting paid.

That depends on your company having some kind of short/long-term disability insurance. Even that sometimes requires that you opt into it and pay a premium, though many companies do include it with them paying the premium.

  • If you go with that reading, then one could argue that the 2nd amendment doesn't require the allowance of privately owned/held firearms at all, but would be satisfied by state, and/or local governments organizing their own "militias", with arms purchased, stored and controlled in much the same way as our national military does, but managed by said militia organization. In such a reading, banning the private ownership and use of firearms could conceivably be enacted without running afoul of the second amendment.

I'm not saying that I propose this or that I think it's a good idea, just that one could make the case.

  • Half of the joke about the color of the bubbles is that the green bubble people are either ignorant of or disregard the improvements in texting for the last decade.

No, the joke is that people keep paying absured amounts of money for apple products while thinking that it was the other people who were ignorant of or disregarding said advancements, when in reality it was Apple refusing to let anyone else implement those advancements in a way that worked between platforms, and it was Apple refusing to implement anyone else's version of those advancements.

    That's the real joke.

  • Yes, 100%. It is by far my favorite show.

The first season is rough to get through, especially the first half. But the payoff is 100% worth it.

It's funny that one show can have some of the absolute worst acting and dialog in TV history, while also having some of the absolute best acting and dialog in TV history.

Even if everything else sucked (and it does NOT), the show would be worth watching just for the character development and story arc of Londo and G'Kar. Hell, just the burning elevator scene is worth watching the whole show for. 😁

  • They aren't trying to force you specifically to be visible. If you want to continue to live in the shadows, by all means do so.

But by the same token, they shouldn't be forced to live in the shadows if they don't want to.

As far as I can tell, it's just about getting to a point where it's okay for those who want to, to be able to go out in public and be who they are (and therefore be visible) without getting insulted, or discriminated against or killed for it.

That in no way affects your ability to continue to do things the way you want to.

  • Well, if you truly think it's better you're welcome to put your money on the line to develop a prototype theremin-controlled vehicle and provide real world data to prove that it's a better mechanism for controlling vehicles on public roads than a wheel and pedals.

Until that happens, I'm going to stick with the proven technology.

  • Keyboard and mouse players win in FPS shooters, not driving games.

As someone who spent an inordinate about of time trying to play Test Drive III with a keyboard, I can assure you that a keyboard is a terrible interface for driving.

Later, Test Drive Le Man's and PGR3 helped me learn that a controller is better than a keyboard, but still not great.

A wheel is by far the best control mechanism for a car.

  • I went to school in West Texas (bigotry Central). In elementary school in the mid-80s, it was tradition that the 6th grade class always put on a performance of 'Guitarzan' for the annual talent show, and EVERY year it was tradition that Jane was played by a male student.

The main difference of course is that it was played as humorous. A joke with a ridiculous coconut bra.

So it's not that Texans have a problem with cross-dressing itself, but with taking seriously anyone who isn't ashamed of it.

Which to me seems to make it even worse. I hate this state.

  • It very much does matter. A large driver of pushing to smaller scale is to increase the amount of transistors and traces they can fit in a given space for reasons of both manufacturing and practical issues.

If they tried to make a modern CPU using the manufacturing scale of yesteryear, they'd have to use multiple wafers to make a single chip.

Can you imagine how big a modern CPU (7ish nm) design would end up if it were made using the same scale as even a Pentium Pro/Pentium 2 (300nm)?? They would be 42times larger!! Just try fitting one of those in a laptop. And that's ignoring the timing issues you'd have with the traces being so long between sections of the CPU.

  • Is there some rule I wasn't aware of that you must own a home in order to give out candy on Halloween?

At 18, you presumably live SOMEWHERE. Nothing stopping you from giving out candy at that residence.

Note: this is not an endorsement that you shouldn't be allowed to trick or treat at 18. Simply pointing out that your specific argument is bullshit.
