  • Lol, actually a Linux user, but I do fear change. And to be fair, I don't have accurate stats for feature parity percentage. Maybe it is above 70%. And I actually do use the Settings app often when I have to deal with Windows at work. So I get that it's actually not terrible, and is slowly getting better.

Regardless, let me just add a secondary IP address to a network interface so I can access a network device using a different IP scheme without losing access to the internet. Oh wait.. Settings doesn't have that feature... It opens Control Panel...

Well, that's just one instance, no biggie. Now I just need to create partitions on a new disk... Settings got my back right? Oh.. No... It needs to open Disk Management...

Whatever, that's pretty rare anyway. Just gotta rename this printer. Oh, launches control panel again...

My point is this, having to navigate what settings have been migrated, what settings haven't, and what have been disabled just to force users to try Settings, is a bad experience. Its not fearing change, its growing pains. Just telling people that "control panel is being depreciated" doesn't solve the fact that this swap is currently making the situation harder, not easier. I look forward to the day where I don't have to wonder where to find the settings I need to access again.

  • I f*king love how censoring curse words has become the new crsing for the internet!

Used to be that cursing was a way to show your disdain for having restrictions placed on your freedom of expression. Now cursing without censorship is considered "polite internet speech" and adding an * is offensive and uncouth. Your right to express yourself how you choose be d*mned!

    The irony is too good!

  • Not that I'm fully on board with the theory, but you might be surprised how often "solving" a high profile case is placed above actually getting the right man.

This is a publicity nightmare for the police, and getting someone in custody "achieves" placating the public and key stakeholders.

Repeating things about this kids views on the Uni-bomber and referring to his writings as a manifesto "achieves" diminishing his status as a folk hero.

So while I won't endorse any particular theory until more evidence comes out, it wouldn't be the first time putting a scapegoat in jail was deemed more important than letting people think the "perp" got away. Even if the hypothetical real shooter kills again, controlling the narrative can be it's own goal in cases like this.

  • All you have to do to get my money is let me be a pirate, a jedi, a ninja, or a samurai. My inner child can't help themselves.

So how can Ubisoft be so terrible that I have literally not wanted to play their Pirate game, their StarWars game, and now their Ninja/Samurai game!?

  • Not that I specifically disagree with anything you said. But reviewers loved to call Skyrim "as wide as an ocean, but as deep as a puddle" as well. And while Starfield suffers from a worse case of this, it's hard to argue this hasn't been Bethesda's main problem for a long while now.

Maybe this flaw finally caught up to Bethesda thanks to the march of time. But gotta hand it to em, they had a great run for a team the refuses to change with the times.

  • Idk man, the people with no friends and the people with a lot of friends and even the people with a middle amount of friends seem to follow a standard distribution of personalities.

Some awkward people and some charismatic people just suck. Some awkward people and some charismatic people are awesome. But most of all, people are just kinda shades of in-between.
