  • Aye. If changing a bulb is that involved the car isn’t that good.

  • This. Let’s put the critique where it’s actually warranted. Being weird isn’t hurting anyone.

  • It’s probably not selfishness, experts say. Even young adults who want children see an increasing number of obstacles.

Well, of course it's not selfishness. Having children is a purely selfish act, because who else are you reproducing for? You can't do something for someone that doesn't exist, and bringing existence to someone who hasn't asked for it, knowing what the world looks like, doesn't strike me as a kindness. So who else is benefiting? The capitalist machine?

  • I regret clicking this thread. So I'll add to it.

Years ago the apartment complex I was living in was getting renovated. We got these little caravans put up out in the back which we could use as kitchens and bathrooms as ours were getting renovated. The bathroom ones had pump issues, and one day, as I was preparing to get into the shower in this freezing cold caravan (because what better time to do this than in the middle of the winter?), the pump crapped out and the sewage ended up backflowing, regurgitated out of the shower drain.

I did not shower that day.

  • I mean, inpainting isn't particularly hard to make use of. There are also tools specifically for the purpose of generating "deepfake" nudes. The barrier for entry is much, much lower.

  • I disagree. The forum is hosted by Mozilla, they have a duty to ensure it’s handled properly. If they wish to no longer maintain it, fix outstanding privacy issues and archive it.

  • I guess that tracks. Mozilla doesn’t care about people’s privacy after all.

  • Given how prominent an ally the U.S. is, the rise of the alt-right and increasingly fascistic tendencies lends a legitimacy to that viewpoint I'd rather not see. I naturally don't put sole blame on the U.S. for the western sphere leaning more and more fascist, but it's certainly set a precedent making it easier for others to follow.

  • I had to reread that sentence several times because I kept reading it as “asparagus” instead of “Pegasus.”

  • Jag är inte helt säker på att det är samma sak, heller. Min mor odlade en hel del olika grejer, och jag minns specifikt en hel del lökar och kål från Kina.

  • Ah cool! I only recalled the name "Kinesisk luftlök" but I wasn't sure if it was the same thing. Thanks for the link.

  • Nope. That’s just people living their identities. You and I don’t get to decide who they are.

  • Good ideas marred by a flawed execution.

  • There's a particular variety of Chinese garlic that grows as a singular bulb. It originates in the Yunnan province, I think. I remember my mother growing it back when I was a child. It's really nice!

  • What are you even talking about? Men don't identify as women.

  • I don't get it, either. The White House has a website, which is certainly a place they could announce it. Further, there's nothing stopping the government from hosting their own Mastodon instance, specifically for communications like that. Using X seems like an endorsement of the platform, and the person currently calling the shots.

  • Trump isn’t held to any standard. That’s the thing. No one has any great expectations of Trump. His campaign should have been over when he mocked a reporter’s disability, but it wasn’t.

  • Ah. I’ve had a lot of fun in Sea of Thieves. It was hella fun on launch, albeit quite unfortunately lacking in content. I’ve heard it’s gotten much better since, basically a different game altogether now.

  • Reading stuff like this makes me sick. All is not well with the world.

  • Advocates: take survivors of abuse seriously.
Society: Let's have computers tell us what to do!

I mean I guess the risk of repeated murder-suicide is pretty low...
