Look, I wasn't a big fan of the half time show, either, but that's because it was only one person and wasn't a big spectacle. I think Kendrick absolutely crushed his performance, and the dancers and choreography were amazing; but it was like a really large music video and not a halftime show spectacle. If any other person had made a musical cameo besides the woman I didn't know who sang two short lines, then it would have been better. The reason I say that is, in my unartistic opinion, Kendrick is a bit one-note; so adding another artist would have punched harder.
I knew people would complain about the lack of diversity on stage, but I also think it was completely intentional to make a point. I loved that aspect of it.
His post was emulating the excuse people use when they are trying to deflect away from something obviously bad. The state of Israel will refuse to say that what Elon did was antisemitic or an actual Nazi salute. They will talk around the subject and say it wasn't ACTUALLY the Nazi salute, just him being exuberant in the moment. Or they will point out that the salute was around in Roman times and isn't actually an antisemitic salute even though Hitler used it, just like people will point out that the swastika is an ancient symbol from Hinduism so it also isn't antisemitic.
And an awful lot of them voted FOR this. I am marrying into an Hispanic family with some people who voted for Trump... who were then surprised when they were fired from their jobs immediately after he announced the DEI orders.
But instead of rejecting emotional/mental health professional care like Scientology, they reject physical medical care because suffering makes you better. Like if Scientology and Jehova's Witnesses had a baby.
They're owned by a religious cult, and the show is all about how China has oppressed their religion. This is the same religious cult that owns Epoch Times and heavily supported Trump.
If you don't have capital gains taxes or deferred tax deductions, doing your taxes is really easy.
That said, this is a way to stop providing free services that private companies want to get paid to do. HR Block makes billions from people who are either too lazy or too bad at math to do simple stuff. Real accountants earn their living on complicated taxes, but millions of Americans can do a 1040 EZ, which takes about 5 minutes to fill out.
The statistics show that even though 70% of Americans are eligible to file for free with the IRS tools, only 3% actually use that tool to file for free. So I'm not sure how much business is even being lost here.
And those voters would still vote for Trump. They will claim their hardships weren't due to Canada's tariffs but due to California having too high of taxes and not giving them enough water.
They released info to shareholders last week that showed an 8% drop in year over year sales... and yet the stock went up. Maybe people expected the drop to be even higher, so the drop was already priced in?? But it just feels like there is market manipulation going on.
The people in the blue states already do speak up and rally against Trump. It hasn't helped in the past and won't help in the future, partly because they don't have any power under the Electoral College, partly because it makes Trump voters double down, and partly because red states see it as a good thing to be doing something that makes blue states angry. They will happily harm themselves if it also harms liberals.
Your last point is true, though. There are more Trump voters in CA than there are in some large number of red states combined.
