  • In my experience libs and lefties are less likely to buy yard signs overall, and remember they changed their candidate: had to take down the Biden/Harris sign and order a new Harris/walz one. So signs aren't a great indicator. Also metro-Atlanta and Athens alone have about the same population as the entire rest of the state combined.

But, the republicans are so loud that it certainly seems like the whole state is ultra right wing.

  • how the fuck do you expect them to like you?

Many of them have given up on this entirely. At the more extreme end they straight up want women to be pressured or forced to be with them whether they like them or not.

The want to have women, not love them. They (erroneously) think that's the solution to their loneliness.

It's like they were never loved as children or something

Yeah. That happens a lot. Even if their family did love them not all parents are good at communicating that.

  • Which takes me to think, maybe there are things men need emotionally that women cannot provide, but I couldn't write a list.

You could probably write entire books and doctoral theses about this right here. In fact I'm sure people have.

I think, fundamentally, men need the same things women need: love, support, a sense of belonging, opportunities for self improvement, on top of all of Maslow's needs, and more. All things that are often denied to people for various societal and economic reasons. And some men will deny themselves these things because we are lied to about what will make us happy.

More than anything many men feel the need to be in control of all aspects of their life. Control their finances, their property, their spouse. But it's impossible to be always in control, so there will always be an angst there. Men who have everything they thought they needed to be happy, and still aren't, may sooner or later look for someone to blame. That makes then vulnerable to divisive rhetoric.

I've never been married but I am a man who, frankly, hasn't ever been very happy in life despite being loved by my family; yes I think a married person can feel very lonely.

  • I was never under the impression that most mass shooters do it for fame or notoriety, but rather as revenge for some perceived injustice from society at large or by the particular community they attack.

Even still, it's very far from a healthy mindset.

  • Almost a fair point; dems may not have rallied around Harris under other circumstances. But she's only formally run one other time and that was four years ago and against a former VP (Biden). Not quite the same situation today.

Also the line you quoted doesn't seem to have anything to do with the point you're trying to make.

  • Dems changed to Harris before actually nominating Biden.

Trump is already nominated. Changing at this point would be a much bigger problem for either side.

Even if they somehow did who would take his place? Vance has been very unpopular so far, and they've already had a full primary this cycle; we already know they don't have anyone better than Trump.

Also it would make them hypocrites, not that they care.
