  • The ability to control the temperature (and perhaps humidity and/or composition too) of air within 1mm of my body. Like a personal air conditioner. Would make going outside right now so much more bearable, pretty sure it would help with sleep too... Sigh, one can dream...

  • The people who made this decision when they talk about vaccines: "My body, my choice, you can't tell me what to do!"

Same people, when they talk about masking, abortion or anything else: "Your body, my choice, I can and will tell you what to do!"

My skull would probably crack from the cognitive dissonance if I tried holding these two opinions, but it seems some people have no issues with it at all...

  • No idea, honestly - not a trekkie, so I never cared enough to ask :)

  • I'm on an instance that defederated from only 3 other ones: voyager.lemmy.ml, ds9.lemmy.ml and enterprise.lemmy.ml - just checked now. I honestly dont see a firehose of trash, tankie invasion or anythig of the sort. I do aggressively block communities I have zero interest in, so it might still be happening there, but I personay don't see it at all - anecdotal evidence, I know, but that's been my experience.

  • Open your fridge once per day before the door locks with our SmartHome Basic tier. You can enjoy up to five door openings per day with SmartHome Premium, or choose SmartHome Ultimate for unlimited door openings, ability to adjust the temperature AND the light turning on automatically when you open the door! Act now to get a 10% discount for the first three months!

  • I hope I never have to use this since I really like my instance, but thanks a bunch for making it! I curate my feed by blocking all communities I have zero interest in, which results in a gigantic blocklist that would not really be feasible to migrate manually, so having a tool to do it is a lifesaver.

Edit: just because I'm curious and I know next to nothing about programming- would it be possible to port this to Android too?

  • Amen to that! I'm not a super prolific poster here either, but compared to reddit I'm WAY more active, and it feels mre fun too. In 15 years on reddit I have only made 2 threads as far as I can remember, but on Lemmy (and Squabbles) I've been sharing my house plants recently and it feels great!

Yes, the community is much smaller, but also much kinder, and I the average age feels higher here too (I have zero data on it, but just judging by the writing style it feels like there's a whole bunch of people roughly my age (40+) around these parts).

  • The solution here would be to mandate full symmetry: if you require muliple steps and confirmations to UNsubscribe or cancel, you must have the exact same steps to subscribe too. I think it would fix this problem very quickly
