I just saw few dozen identical comments with a bunch of upvotes, so the idea of people randomly dogpiling one single comment for no apparent reason struck me as funny!
I seem to recall a subreddit like that... chains of identical one word posts, 20 comments deep, all with a hundred upvotes... and one poor dude with like -1000.
Scanning this thread though, I was kinda hoping there would be one single "Fuck ICE" comment amongst the rest, that was randomly downvoted to oblivion for no apparent reason.
I feel pretty stupid for overlooking something so simple, but since qBittorrent never indicated any kind of connection error, I didn't even think to dig into such things.
I for sure hear you on the insane takes flying around! From the context it looked pretty clear to me that they were tagging on to your post rather than trying to contradict it, but who knows.
Posting sarcasm about a controversial topic without a "/s" tag is like fucking without a condom... it carries a risk, but sometimes you just gotta do what feels right!
I think it's a lot more malicious than a neglect of institutional knowledge.
The people are suffering economic anxiety, Trump points at
<insert economic partner>
as the cause of their economic woes, and builds popular support for some stupid land grab that trades the country's soft power for some quick corporate profits. By the time the long-term damage sets in, they are off to the next grift a few hundred billion dollars richer. Tale as old as time...
They know the damage they are causing--they just don't care.
To conservative white mean, tyranny means having to pay an income tax to support social programs, not being allowed to marry 13 year olds, or the government pushing renewable energy over coal.
To other groups, tyranny has a slightly more real meaning.
I have historically been pretty pro gun control because my life had seen the US generally becoming more socially progressive and supportive of marginalized groups (whether that was truly the case is another question), but the last 5-10 years have me seriously walking back on that stance.
Honestly I don't mind dictator esque people running the world into the ground if it means we get onto a hopefully better path later through shocking the system
LMAO that "if" is doing so much heavy lifting there, Elmo is going to claim he invented it to power the next gen of SpaceX rockets!
Hard agree. My mom is not the most politically literate person, and never cared much about tech, EVs, or space flight, but this summer out of nowhere she started talking about how great this Musk guy was and all his business accomplishments.
The Trump voters have been have been fully prepped on how to feel about Elmo for quite some time now.
If so, the smart move would be applying for citizenship in a country that isn’t a failed democracy, and getting the fuck out. Not posting sensationalist news articles and claiming fascist nazis are one step from putting us up against the wall. It kind of betrays your point.
What an absurd take!
