Most Americans are starting to learn for the very first time how grossly undemocratic the U.S. government actually is. People have had absolute faith in an institution that was held together by bubblegum and hope. Hell, most of what he's doing isn't even illegal. We just hoped that presidents would have enough tact not to abuse their privilege, and never imagined our courts could be captured as well.

You can make an argument for it mattering in the first film as well, but that starts examining the film from a lense of Ash, Weyland Yutani, and the Xenomorph being metaphors for the patriarchy.

I mean, the electorate is definitely unqualified to pick their own leaders, but that's what decades of gutting education funding with absolutely no public pushback gets you. An unqualified electorate elects unqualified representatives.

It's hard to really blame them, public education in the U.S. has been a nightmare for decades now. How can people be expected to learn from history if they're not even being taught to read?

I know what you mean, but I like to look good, so I have very nice clothes for work. It's not just office drone, cuz I would go mad, there's a lot of really cute colors and a couple of higher end tops. I've even got some ties and a lil dinner jacket for when the office has guests or the holiday dinner parties.

For me, it's just the headspace of "I hate that I have to wear this." The dress code is oppressive, and I'm told that I'm lucky. Apparently we were still full suit up until 2015. insane. and when I'm outside of work, I leave it 100% behind me. I don't want even a reminder of it.

Absolutely though, going out in girlmode is 100% intentional and about conveying a message. I feel like it's important to be upfront with my dates that it's a huge part of my identity, and that they have to be interested in that if they want to keep dating me.

Man I'm so fuckin glad I'm out of school and don't have kids. Schools are about to become like little biodomes, full of all sortsa new and evolving infectious diseases, because they're not gonna stop here. Captain Brainworms is gonna tell Trump to ban all vaccines some day, and Trump is going to do it.

This is just a straight up bad faith argument that ignores how colossally the DNC failed in November. There absolutely were millions of Americans who were fooled into thinking that Donald Trump was going to care more about their economic pains than Kamala Harris was. Now, I don't think any of these people would identify themselves as a Trump supporter, they probably called themselves "Undecided" before the election, and I don't think these people want fascism. I think those are the people this ad is trying to reach, the ones who voted for him purely out of economic anxiety who didn't seriously believe the warnings they received of what Trump would really be about. To these people, we call Trump a Nazi the same way he calls Harris a Communist, so they didn't listen. Maybe they'll listen now, and we still need their help if we're to have any chance of getting out of this mess now.

The difference here is that the Tea Party had funding, and picked up more funding from some previous GOP donors who wanted a more extreme party. There's no funding for leftism in the U.S., and any current DNC donors aren't likely to ever switch to funding it.

That's why they've earned the name Blue MAGA. They're just as hateful, just as interested in Yes Men and making sure people submit to their authority unquestioningly. They want Fascism-Lite, they just want it to be "their guy" in charge.

It blows my mind that people criticize the GOP for being so tribalistic, not realizing a majority of the DNC is exactly the same.

This is where I sit. Either the Dems are controlled opposition, or they're actually this incompetent. Does it matter? Do you even need to get conspiratorial? No, they're unqualified and should be replaced.

In the U.S.? Yes, absolutely.

The problem I have is that my office has a dress code policy from the '80s, so I'm wearing nice shirts every day I go to work. Now, it's become my "work attire" so my brain doesn't want to put it on for dates, because who would want their date to arrive in work clothes?

So far, my solution has just been to girlmode my dates, but I do wonder what my future partner will think when they realize I don't actually wear mesh tops and skirts all that frequently, and I have a small Men's Warehouse in my closet.

Yeah, this isn't as much of a negative as people are thinking. You're gonna want to arm yourself if you're trapped in the U.S., making it easier is a bit of a blunder. Should move fast though, because once they realize their blunder they'll make laws to restrict only us from owning firearms.
