  • If you are not a straight white man, you will be flirting with deportation. It might get reversed later, and they might "deport" you to a country you have never been, but it will still be a life-changing event.

If you are going to protest, remember to wear a face-covering, never give anyone your full name, leave your cellphone at home, and wear something you can run in.

  • *The Koch Brothers et al. used their vast wealth to transform the Republican Party in 10 years.

The biggest problem the left faces is that money is required for any political action in the U.S., and there is no money for the left. No billionaire will fund 50501, or Our Revolution, and in fact they'll gladly spend several million dollars defeating leftist primary challengers and suppressing news of protests.

Our political system is hopelessly rigged. There is no longer any way to use it to save ourselves.

  • God I relate to this so hard. So many doctors just dismissing the constant pain I go through, so many times I seriously just sit and think "What if it's something stupid that nobody is thinking of."

I hate the state of medical service in the United States. Most expensive medical care in the world, but if you're poor, you're wasting the doc's time.

  • Bro I can't even physically get to my state's capital. It'd be like a four hour train ride, and a few hundred dollars. Maybe if there was funding for busses there could be higher turnout, but the only people who want to resist are the ones who are already poor and desperate. Things are still fine for the people who've always been comfortable.

  • The Freedom Convoy had Russian money funding its media campaign.

The problem for leftist organizing always really comes back to the fact that capitalists are the ones in power, and that they overwhelming prefer fascism to a social democracy. There's no billionaires funneling money into 50501's pockets to organize a mass turnout. It's the same reason the Tea Party was so successful while similar attempts on the left were not; their primary campaigns were well funded by the Koch bros.

  • Welp, if we're still having elections by 2026, I know which Dick I'll be trying to get primaried out. Bastard didn't take our phone calls seriously, so it's the least we can do.

Also apparently he's already had "traitor" added to his wiki page. I dunno who managed that so quickly, but good job! Dick Durbin is a traitor, just like all the others who voted in support of this funding bill.

  • I'm fairly certain that we could actually fully automate food production, and might even be able to automate each step from farm to distribution with a little additional effort. The major obstacle that I can tell seems to be the upfront cost of the precision machines necessary to handle harvesting, automating the planting and care has already been accomplished.

  • No, the German equivalent would be if you divided Germans on whether they have light skin or dark skin. Are your Middle-Eastern immigrants not German? Your Romani? If they're citizens of your country now, they are your countrymen, fullstop.

I feel like you're very close to understanding America in your last paragraph though. For us, nearly every American is from a migrant group that brought a different culture from a different country. There's only like 1% of the continent's native population left. A Black American's experiences are fundamentally different to a White American, or a Latino American, or an Eastern European American, because they all grew up with a different culture to one another. There is no real "baseline" American culture, as much as some angry White Americans would have you believe.

  • This father decided that his skydaddy was more important than his living child. I've very little sympathy for child murderers, even if this sounds like a big issue was the lack of good hospital care in Texas...which this parent likely voted for.
