So you believe, that if you would rewind time to a specific choice you made, you would be able to make a different choice, even though your brain and your surroundings are in the exact same state as before?
Or do you believe your choices to be originating from somewhere else than your brain?
Hey, I'd like to help here with some clarification: the vulnerability affected winrar, not the RAR archive format. In fact, it happened when opening zip files, not rar files.
7zip is not only capable of extracting 7z archives, but also zip and rar. Thus using 7zip to open a malicious archive would prevent you from being a victim of said attack, which is what the previous author meant.
So you wouldn't need to change the archive format of your existing files, as this was only about not using winrar to open possibly malicious archives.
I can switch without rebooting, so I may change my mind several times a day. I actually boot without gui by default and then start sway by hand. Usually after starting updates in a terminal multiplexer.
Interesting, I don't know much about current windows, so this did not cross my mind. But you have to install a separate OS for this and can't just decide to stop your display manager I guess?
So playing games and running without GUI would require to different installations?
I now imagine the machine long time doing nothing and then spitting out "This is taking too long, i am going home!".
