  • He and Thatcher were instrumental in bringing neoliberalism into mainstream politics. Neoliberalism differs from classical liberalism in that its about freeing capital and not people. This directly led to all the problems we face today with a government that used to be by and for the people but now the only people the government serves are the corporations we gave out rights to.

  • I've always thought that duplicate's should be somehow grouped together in some way and not outright closed unless it truly is a true duplicate without that nuances. If questions that are similar can generate differing quality answers it would be beneficial. Then linked together as a group.

  • That's why my mom bought me an Amega 4000. It was a birthday present. Never got that Video Toaster and never did get into animation back then but I had Brilliance and used it allot. I cant remember for sure but I think I remember the os being more Unix like. God I loved that machine!

Ever since I saw Beyond the Minds Eye I've wanted to do computer animation.

  • Overhaul the entire financial industry enforcing the laws we already have and use our past laws as a blueprint to create new laws that will prevent this fraud and robbery from ever happening again.

Lengthy prison sentence's is a good start, their assets should be seized to pay back the taxpayer as well as a 70% tax rate on any company worth a billion dollars +. Any insolvent companies should be taken over by the government and owned by the public.

Since our entire government is owned by special interests I don't see anything but a bailout happening though.

  • Testdisk, clamxTK, rkhunter or chkrootkit, mobile verification toolkit, lshw, time shift maybe deja-dup.

I think your idea is a good one. Like a linux Swiss Army knife. You can have lots of tools that you don't need all the time but might be handy in a pinch. Especially if you don't have internet.

  • Evil Dead 1&2, Army of Darkness are some of my favorite movies growing up. Just rewatched The Howling and it was good but not as good a American Werewolf in London. Friday the 13th and the Hellrazor series were awesome. Lost boys etc. The Gate. Pet Cemetery, Sometimes They Come Back and Cats Eye I thought were great Stephen King adaptations. I really enjoyed The Cube for its creativity and small set.

Still its the SciFi horrors get me the most. Alien series was awesome and Event Horizon were awesome. Something about having nowhere to escape to I think.

  • Some people need external validation. Personally I don't care about votes. However I do give upvotes very often hoping to increase participation. I often upvote comments I disagree with when their in the negative as long as they aren't being a dick. I think differences of opinion are healthy. It takes no time to read an opinion I don't agree with and maybe upvote it when they are riding the down vote bandwagon. I like diversity and think our differences could be more valued. I don't like the whole reddit style popularity contest down vote thing some think social media has to be.

I upvote posts that I have no interest in as well. I want people to feel welcome and create content. I'm far more of a lurker than a creator so it's in my interest to have others creating content feeling happy about doing so even if I'm not their target audience.

I really don't hit the down vote button much, if I really don't like what they have to say I just scroll on. I want Lemmy to be a more welcoming place then reddit. So I try to make it so.

I have no issue blocking obvious troll accounts though.

  • Wondering how/if this exploit would effect an OS with luks encryption? How could the arbitrary code compromise the encrypted volume? Could it be kept in memory and ran after volume decryption?

I don't have any real understanding of how code executed before bootloader works or if it's presistant after boot.

  • To me it feels more like an orchestrated march toward fascism.

I think the monied interests and the powers they have are directly threatened by democracy and the younger generations being far more progressive then they can control through propaganda alone. They would wrather remove any semblance of democracy than loose their power.

The slow but steady march is by design, frogs in an ever warming pot till it's to late.
