  • They aren’t required to fund him, that’s true, but all campaign donations from the DNC are transparent. He can compare it to Adams’ purse in 2021. They also can’t stop him from fundraising directly.

If he makes it clear that they are withholding financial support given to prior candidates, then people will donate to him directly and the DNC will be publicly called out for favoring past candidates. That’s the last thing they need after the Debbie Wasserman-Shultz/Hillary Clinton scandal.

  • What are you talking about? He’s the Democratic candidate now. That’s how primaries work.

We moved the attendance from 21% in 2021 to 30% and now the Democratic candidate is a progressive. That’s literally all it took- voting in the goddamn primary.

  • I disagree. The KEY that everyone should take away from this is VOTE IN THE MOTHAFUCKIN PRIMARIES. That’s how NYC elected a democratic socialist candidate to the Democratic Party. Progressives run all the time, but primaries are largely decided by retirees. They’re the reason we always get centrists.

  • Gotcha. That was never the DNC’s saying. That’s where the confusion happened. It’s an old “once every four years” liberal rally cry for the barely engaged voter, that was re-popularized to combat Trump after Bernie lost the primary in 2016.

  • They’re arguably the most important elections for change. We should be voting twice every two years, not once every four, for federal elections alone. It’s much easier to remember with mail-in ballots, and they give you the names to research if you’ve been too busy to keep up.

  • No, we just need to do exactly what NYC just did and show up to the primary and vote for the progressive. They run all the time, but mostly just retirees vote in them, then everyone complains about the two centrists on the ballot.

It’s really that simple. Vote in primaries.

  • Instead of thinking about that unrelated grudge you have, how about we focus on how this happened?

Mamdani won because WE SHOWED UP and VOTED IN THE PRIMARY.

This is how we replace the establishment centrists in the Democratic Party.

    VOTE. IN. PRIMARIES.

  • Exactly. They’re already going to get the votes of the people who only pay enough attention to vote Working Families in the general election. We just need to replace those candidates with progressives in the primaries. It’s shouldn’t be too difficult with the current <15% attendance. Mamdani saw a whopping 30% turnout.

  • Why do people keep talking about candidates like they’re gifts?

He won a PRIMARY. We get progressives in NY primaries ALL THE TIME. The only difference with Mamdani’s win is that WE SHOWED UP.

This is how we take control of our Congress. Vote. In. Primaries.
