  • How can you watch Futurama for any length of time and not think he's incredibly self centered and narcissistic lol

Anyway...to the OP...a character that vibes towards that for my is Shawn from Psych. Not to the degree of having NPD, but there is definitely a lot of narcissism there.

  • Sorry you're getting downvoted. The internet doesn't understand how to solve problems and would instead like for individual people who have no power in this to be shafted. In an ideal world, what people are saying to you would work. This isn't an ideal world.

  • There are just so many variables and ways to respond and interact that I manage to select the wrong ones all the time. In an ideal situation, I would stop and weigh the options of every single thing I do and say at any given moment in order to figure out the correct course of action. But that just isn't feasible. And I never realize when I'm supposed to stop and think until it's too late.

Like today, I wanted to keep my coworker informed about some case she will have to deal with in the morning. So I sent her a long text after work. But that was wrong and bad because it was bothering someone with a life at home. It was only hours later that I realized that I had an alternative. I could have handwritten out a letter on the case and stuck it where she would see instead of being invasive and bothersome and inconsiderate outside of the workplace.

I have learned some things over time, but sadly there are just an infinite number of scenarios and things and ways I'm supposed to interact and I just can't figure them all out.

  • How do I become a better person and stop doing it? I find I am constantly making mistakes and bothering people. I think a solution to this would be to stop interacting with people as a whole so my presence isn't harming anyone, but that often isn't really feasible. Like at work I often have to interact with people to do my job for example. Occasionally I have thought about quitting to save people from me, but then I wouldn't know how to pay my bills. And idk that I'd want to be homeless.

  • Well...this doesn't really fit this sub, but it's a bit terrifying. GBS is thought to be an autoimmune overreaction to certain types of pathogens and it is supposed to be relatively rare. To see it happening as an "outbreak" is rather concerning.

  • I mostly use my computer for Discord, watching videos, and just generally browsing the web. I'm not a huge gaming person, although I was as a kid. I don't know how to code or anything, though...I have a healthcare related job.

My computer isn't good enough to run a lot of games anyway. It's a laptop from around 2018 that I have hooked up to a keyboard, mouse, and second monitor.

  • Interesting! It seems another user commented that it's a Nokia thing as well. Tbh I haven't used a Nokia phone since Symbian OS lol. Odd that you can't remove the search bar. I wonder if any other phone companies do this.

  • I don't buy this as a blanket statement. It highly depends on what sort of educational track you're pursuing.

At least in the US, there are many graduate level healthcare degrees out there that require you to pay for them. Yet they net a well paying career. Ex: physician associate, anesthesia assistant

If you're specifically referring to research-focused graduate degrees and not job-focused graduate degrees, then I agree with you.

  • If you tend to schedule as one of the earliest appointments in the day, you'll often be seen on time ime. It's the later appointments that get shafted.

Due to my work schedule, I always have to pick the earliest available appointments in the mornings, and I've not generally had a problem with it at various places I've been.

  • Yeah exactly. I get that people are outraged at a lot of things, but I think many people calling for a strike don't realize what is at stake for a majority of people. You would have to do some serious organization among each individual workplace in order for it to be successful.

I'm guessing that's why it seems that many times when I see people protesting or calling for strikes, it seems to be students. Since they often don't yet have things like a full time job, a family to support, etc. they have far less on the line and far less potential consequences for doing so.

To be clear, I'm absolutely not against the idea of protesting/striking, etc. I'm just trying to say that it's a difficult thing to navigate, and not a simple "no brainier" like many people on the internet seem to think it is.

  • Considering a majority of my coworkers are brainwashed into the MAGA cult, I'd lose my job if I was the only one striking lmao. I have a really good job and it's hard to find another like the one I have now because I work in a very very small field. So I'm not personally interested in doing that. Sorry.
