  • This movie is like a fever dream. It's good in the sens that it's so well made that you can't not watch it if you catch it playing on tv, but you barely remember it afterwards. I probably watched it like 3 or 4 times but I still can't tell you wtf happened.

  • Yes, it was "Your name"!

You have to put the scene in the context of "anime" the genre. Anime is known for its fan service and adding such a scene in your supposedly sad and serious anime make the viewer automatically believe it will be full of it.

Tbh, I got burnout from the endless fillers of anime as a teen after watching one piece, naruto and bleach, so my level of tolerance for anime bullshit is really low, and only studio ghibli works manage to never go above zero in my anime-bullshito-meter. I actually believe that, when used correctly, anime is one of the best medium to discuss complex and adult themes.

  • So in short, it all make sense in math, but when you try to convert it into actual words it doesn't make sense or it's so difficult to understand that unless you know the math you can't understand.

  • If we theorize that the universe is like a computer program, then maybe the Universe has several layers of abstraction and we only can access our current layer, therefore forever having an incomplete model. If something external to our layer is affecting it, it would probably be impossible to know.

  • I read the synopsis and the "bully become lover" is one of the tropes I despise the most. As someone that suffered bullying I only feel the deepest hatred for them in my heart.

    Thanks for recommandation anyway!

  • I used to watch anime because of the compelling stories. Then I got fed up with the endless fillers and the creepy fan service. An exemple :

Not long ago, my bro highly praised an anime movie that supposedly had a serious and sad story that would make watch anime again. I stopped watching when in the first ten minutes there's a body swap and the guy inside the girl body start groping themself in front of the mirror.

I only watch studio Ghibli movies anymore.

  • An epic fantasy about init systems? You can't get nerdier that this. More!

Also, really nice art! I never cared about init systems in my life but I am now pro-systemd. You shouldn't have made the villain so badass looking.

  • I am pretty sure I saw an earily similar thumbnail sometimes ago: The face with two emtions cut in half with random text on each side referring to stuff about the character according to said emotions, the freaking template title. All the channel was basically this over and over.

  • RedoxOS would likely never become feature complete enough to be a stable, useful and daily-drivable OS. It's currently a hobbyist OS that is mainly used as a testbed for OS programming in Rust.

If the RedoxOs devs could port the Cosmic DE, they'd become one of the best Toy OS and maybe become used on some serious projects . This could give them enough funds to become a viable OS used by megacorps on infrastructures where security is critical and it may lead it to develop into a truly daily drivable OS.

  • I actually never cared about the actor skin when watching a movie or show. There was a show called "Merlin" and Guinevere was black and the question of why is she black never actually popped in my mind.

    On the other hand

when reading, things like a black king rulling in Europe during the middle ages would break immersion a bit because my brain would be constantly telling me "this doesn't make sense".

    I can't explain it.

  • It could be. But then again, he did have the help of a Rust designer/core dev. I believe they even wrote the first iteration of the "Jakt" compiler in Rust before rewriting it in Jakt itself, so Andreas isn't against using Rust.
