Because I just glanced at the picture while hiding my phone from customers and thought they were bees

What is it with European bakeries and bees? I've seen memes and stuff about it, and this one youtuber, a Vietnamese woman who's German BF never shows his face, I can't remember her name right now. She showed a bakery in Germany with bees everywhere. Why is this a thing?

I haven't read the article yet (sneaking Lemmy time at work), but this reminds of the literacy tests they used to use for voting in the US for black folks

I'm not sure if "Dharms" was a typo or a nickname, but that's the first time I've gotten that, and I genuinely like it. Like, what a great nickname. Love it.

Said it before and I'll say it again: just because you understand the magic doesn't make it any less magical. A wizard may know the ins and outs of their spells, but they're still spells. Our entire universal is fucking magical, we just happen to have a decent understanding of why (some) of it functions the way it does. Jiggle a quark here and another may jiggle the same way somewhere in the vicinity of Betelgeuse, that's fucking wild and magical and incredible, and just because we have some level of understanding behind the mechanics doesn't make it not magic. It just makes it a hard magic system.

We mostly laughed about it after I explained what I was doing

34 currently and just came out of retirement, as I see. I was my mom's caregiver. Got paid through the state to hang out with my best friend, the person I love most in the world. We were broke, just barely made more than the bills, enough to splurge on a 30-50 dollar item in a month... But honestly, my life was perfect. She passed away in April, and while going back to work isn't the thing that sucks most about all this, standing on concrete floors at a gas station with plantar fasciitis and being generally fucking miserable isn't helping. I just want my mom and my life back

Generally "nuke it" but occasionally zap make an appearance, microwave as a verb, and sometimes me-crow-wa-vay if I'm feeling extra

I am in no way techy, but from what I gather because the posts are federated they are also stored on the other instances as well, so posts are still visible. In the post announcing the shuttering of .ee they specifically mentioned adding a note on your profile to link to your new profile, so people can find your new profile after that shut down. That implies to me that everything not intentionally scrubbed remains open/visible long after the shut down of the original source.
